Warhead...is awesome

the original is better IMO, but both are very good.

wtf...ammo everywhere? countless times i've run out of ammo in a firefight. mostly because i don't bother getting all the ammo lying around. and in the (spoiler) *****ship it was very tense because at the end i had to resort to the pistol...awesome :D

Speed to strength melee is hard, but once you pull it off, it's worth it. God I love mouse wheel.

I ended up buying Warhead. Finished it today. Nice game, would rate it 7.5 or 8.0. Looked even better than the Crysis demo and ran a lot better too. It's a shame though that the game didn't really play to its strengths: open ended combat against humans in the jungle and on the beaches. Instead, it had lots of vehicle sections with lots of explosions, while fun in a Michael Bay kind of way, I missed the tactical aspect that I liked in the Crysis demo.

Not that the alien fights were that bad. The first encounter with the small ones in the jungle was great, I only had a SMG (that thing blows btw) and a shotgun and it cost me a lot of effort to kill the five or so that the game throws at you (on hard). But after that, using the Gauss gun, the fights are too easy, especially in the open airfield environment.

I've read that Crysis is slower and more tactical than Warhead, would you recommend getting Crysis too?

I don't get why people complain about the performance of Crysis btw, it runs better than Far Cry 2 and looks a LOT better while doing so.

EDIT: Warhead doesn't have a 64-bit executable like Crysis has and no Sandbox editor either, so that was disappointment (mostly the editor, I don't know if the 64-bit executable had a performance benefit tbh).

When using -devmode parameter on Crysis's target location, I found some strange things in my weapons menu, like a golf club. Can you use this in Warhead?

In my personal preference i enjoy the graphics of Far Cry 2 more than Crysis. Even on low settings FC2 to me looks surprisingly good while when i played Crysis on low stuff just seemed horrible looking (i am talking having trees turn into pixelated 2d textures.) Far Cry 2 is just more visually pleasing to me and has an overall cleaner look.

I also viewed Crysis as an average to below average shooter. I truly did not find the suit to be all that fun but then again, you can't please everyone.

wait...why did you go for warhead? it would make a lot more sense if you'd play the original first.

Crysis is the best big dumb stupid shooter I have played in a while.

Preferred it over COD4 by a mile. Yet to play Warhead, though.

Why? It's sold as a standalone game and thus should be playable without the original.

Anyway, would you recommend getting Crysis anyway if I want a slower and more tactical game than Warhead?

sure...but in the original you get the background to the story.

the original is a bit slower but not that much. as for tactical game, yes some firefights tend to have a more tactical approach, but it all depends on the players style. my most common approach is snipe the snipers or turret posts :D, and then do a stealthy move towards a outpost/base/camp, until you reach the fence, after that there is a lot of shooting and taking cover.

i personally believe you should get crysis immediately, but that's a very biased opinion :)
the original is more epic and diverse than warhead...GET IT NOW! :E

oh and don't even think of plying it on less than hard...it's here that it really starts being fun...except
the tank scene
, which became quite frustrating
