Well this is very much a piece in progress, but i thought I'd post it anyways, so I could get some feedback and c&c :D

Things that needs implented or changed:
- Remove clouds.. stand out too much and look like crap :D
- Fix skymap
- Add snow(cmon valve I dont need purple little dots! :D)
- Decorade and light the house
- Make the outside env. look more natural, and make natural "borders" in forms of hills
- More foilage
- other stuff and things. :D

Also a questionf or you guys... how do I make a brush transparent?

Thats a great start :) I'm glad someone is making those kinds of maps - I think that CS:S should head towards larger, more open outdoor type maps as well (most maps that are anywhere near outdoor now are either city or just too dense). This is probably because all of the current CS:S maps were completely ported (with some major additions/subtractions) - Now that HL2 runs hella good outdoors, we'll see what happends. Keep bulding onto this map, eventually we may have open maps that will add diversity to CS:S!!

I wont comment much on the interior because frankly they rarely look any good until they are closer to being finnished (and I don't like the plainess of ost multiplayer interiors either...but anyway)

I like the outside, and I like the way you did the snow. Breaks up the map a bit and adds some varietry, instead of just coating everything in white.

I think with a couple of changes to the outside lighting, and that big wall you have around, might make the clouds seem more natural. You probably have it planned, but it would look a lot nicer with the ole 3d sky box. Not sure what the setting of the map is, but some tall trees, and maybe hills would help.

By changes to the outside lighting, I don't mean making it all brighter to "fit" with the clouds. I just mean some features with a few more highlights. For instance...rocks. Maybe the wall could be some kind of cliff face or something. Just something that picks up the night light a bit more. At the moment it seems very flat outside in terms of lighting.
 
Very nice. I'm new to mapping and I want to make maps that will look even half as good.

Also, love the red ambient light coming from the house :D

Actually I comletely didn't think of adding rocks to the outside! What a great idea ! I'll do that.
About the skybox thingy.... I actually have a skybox, but I got the name wrong :D

Hey Nos, how the hell are you dude? How's Hammerstein? I've been trying to find the site or at least one of the members.
 
very nice map, i started mapping today , almost have one indoor map done ( very simple, looks a bit like the colt map from cs ) , i hope to make levels like that in a few weeks, hammer is very user friendly i must say
 
It's nice to see the map train rolling. I could think of a few things to be added.

-Make the streetlights beam more powerfull
 
I added you to MSN. We need to get this ****ing project going brother. Unless you have still got it going.
 
I think the street lights definitely need to be brightened up, overall the map is to dark.

Something need to be added around the peremiter of the map to prevent the area from looking like it just stops.

Also, maybe another route to consider is the addition of flood lamps on the exterior of the house?
 
Currently compiling the map...f or some reason it takes... well more than 15 hours so far and it still neds from 9-10 in the partalvis... gonna take until toight i guess.. that's a good 24 hours :/

-I added A halfway around perimiter in shape of hills... still need to add stone/depris to make it look like an avalanche.
-Added a little lake
-Hope I got the skymap to work...still need to do my own though.
-hopefully I made the streetlights brighter, but I think they will hve to be tweaked more.
-added arch below bridge
-experimenting with interior of the house

haha :) True dat, This map doesn't HAVE to be used for CS:S though. And if it was you could disable buy zone and have certain weapons in the house (maybe a cache room) and maybe have CTs inserted in an APC and have the inside of the apc full with weapons? Dono...

I just think that CS wont work that great with outdoor maps because it's not designed for it - but plenty of new mods will be... I thought these maps would be very nice for WWI/WWII.... :)
 
Wow since my previous post, the compiler has moved... one dot.... so now it only needs like 3 dots! Ugh :D Thought the engine could handle open maps better? ...hmm any way to decrease compile times? doesnt look like there's a way as far as I can see in the sdk manual...

Concerning AWM/AWP, I'm not sure I will try to make it a especially CS:S Dedicated map... after all it's just for practice... but if you can see the chacters all the way through the map, I'll just add some fog etc :D
 
Actually there's an entity tool that limits what weapons appear in the buy zone. it's game_weapon_manager or something. Thing is you need to know all the weapon strings (Which I don't). I got it off RipperRoo who was helping me with my map I'm making :D.

Also, if you find all the weapon strings, feel free to tell me what the Para one is ;).

What part of your compile is slow? Rad or Vis?

Currently I have a few issues with it
1. The light rays looks crap... think i'l just delete them :D
2. Skymap is flickering at times... NO idea how to fix this :/
3. moon looks wierd... didn't think the skymap would stretch it :D
Anyways I think the mood it getting better and better ... the fog really adds a lot to it :D
 
the snow on the road doesnt look very reallistic but otherwise its looking good...
for the moon try making one and place it in the skybox
and try getting some model for the window it would add some detail on the the house and would really look better :P
 
Wow, I like it. You should add ice on the river though.
