Was gonna see Star Wars 3... Now I probably won't.

Hmmmm... you're an idiot if you take Maddox's words for good...

exactly.
the guy is just trying to do something different and shouldn't be taken so seriously.

Theres another thing that has been bugging me.

Why did joda's lightsaber, that was in the torso of a clonetrooper, not just fall to the ground due to gravity whilst slicing the bottom half the body at the same time? You would think a film dubbed Sci-Fi would take simple physics into consideration

I think they were just making it into a high tech sword. Good point, I didn't notice, I was just thinking "Man, Yoda kicks ass."

And I like Maddox's Yoda picture

Allthough his reviews are funny sometimes over critical so I take everything he says with a grain of salt, allways good laughs though.

I'm going to my uncle's house tomorrow to watch movies 4-6, he has the dvds

i mostly enjoyed ep3, although Maddox's problems with the movie were spot on, eg. Anakin's switch - how long did that take? or the ending with Anakin screaming "nooooooooooo" - cheese on a whole new level even for Lucass. I really do agree with M's point about the special effects. Seriously why not build some sets. It really does look better imo. Compare the backgrounds of ep4-6 to ep1-3 and you can't tell me ep1-3 looks better. Blue Screen is still obvious, i'm sorry folks.

Well... I went out and actually watched Episode 3 tonight. I was always going to, of course, but kind of put it off.

Anyways, I have to say, I agree with much of what maddox said... but I cannot laugh at that which I laughed at in his review, for it only made me sad instead.

George Lucas has taken something that I have loved, with episodes 4, 5 and 6... and turned them into a joke, for the most part. Sure, there were some good moments in the new movies, but overall they kind of turned me away from 'lucas' star wars. I still love star wars... but my love and devotion for it come from the background, with all the pen and paper RPG books, the actual books, etc.

With episode three, I can say that the movie was pretty average, but compared to the previous two it was probably a bit better. However, it doesn't turn my attention away from some horrible things in the movie. The droids... why is it that lucas felt to use such cartoonish, 'silly' voices for nearly all the droids and their responses? Comic relief was rather idiotic in this movie, especially in the beginning. This sort of started my 'dismay' at knowing I wouldn't completely enjoy the movie.

There's many other things that I didn't like, but only a couple i'll comment on. The lightsaber battles were rather subpar in this. Sure, they were interesting, and neat... but you rarely got to see any of that. Because the camera angles were always up in the faces of the actors where you could barely see what they were doing, and the 'excessive' bright lights done during them made it so I was hardly able to keep my eyes on the fight sequence. The best lightsaber combat scene by far that i've seen in all the star wars... has been the one in episode one with darth maul, obiwan's apprentice, and obiwan. That one was just spectacularly well done, without all the aforementioned stuff.

Samuel Jackson... I love him as an actor, in fact... i'd have to rank him as pretty much my favorite actor. I love just about everything he does in his movies... but in my opinion he does not make for a great jedi. The acting is just not up to what I would love a jedi master to be, and neither are the other jedi masters of the council... they are all pretty much a joke for me :-(

The ending... with Vaders scream of "Nooooo!" Like the guy just before me... it was incredibly cheesey! Just... just not for me.

I love star wars, in fact, I would consider myself a HUGE star wars fan, but that does not mean I need to be blindly devoted to Lucas's work with the last three movies he did. It just doesn't scream star wars to me, and is not something I enjoyed. I get most of my passion for star wars from episodes 4, 5 and 6, the pen and paper RPG books... and the story books themselves written by the various authors. That... is star wars to me. Lucas is not star wars to me, not any longer.

That all being said... the movie was decent, but my high expectations of what I think it should have been, have clouded my judgement, and overall I feel it wasn't star wars for me. Now, I can only hope people don't flame me for this... I hope they don't, because I really love star wars... but, not the latest movie forms of it.

The droids voice didnt overly annoy me. Some of the jokes where lame. Samuel Jackson cant seem to do a good death. I dont have an opinion of the council, as all they really do is sit there and nod at Yoda. Vaders "Noooo" at the end was totally retarded.

I was probably the only one in the theater that laughed my ass off at the Vader "Nooo!" at the end.

Lots of people did when I went to see it.

Ah, gotta love Maddox, but the people that take him serious and send him hatemail are priceless...

I was gonna see star wars 3, but then i got high...

I thought it was a good movie, (General Grievous should have a mustache though, he was just that awesome.) But Anakin sure came off as being about as retarded and easily brainwashed as one can be.

*Spoiler*

Wouldn't, with all the technology they have, you'd think giving Birth would be such an easy thing to do?

Anakin is the chosen one because he is the most guillible being in the universe.

She didnt die from the childbirth, she died from "a broken heart" >_>

I think lightsabers are barely even two lbs., I doubt ther'd have been enough gravity force to pull it down. And besides, they were on...utapu? The guys there were pretty tall, that implies lower-than-earth gravity, dunn it?

I thuoght ROTS was ok, not the best star wars movie, definately not the best movie ever. I absolutely hated the droids for those damned voices of theirs >_<

Lightsabers are very, very heavy. As said by Lucus.

Why didnt yodas lightsaber just fall? I refer to a quote said by the actor in lord of the rings who played Frodo, talking to the lighting tech about a light that shines on him during a set, but there was no sauce for it. "Where does the light come from?" the reply being "The same place as the music"

Its just somthing that looked ok, so I doubt they overly cared about gravity, its a movie, not a physics essay.

I think you misunderstood what lucas said, If you're thinking about the quote I'm thinking of.
While making the 4th movie (a new hope) he was telling the actors to imagine the sabers were erally heavy, like 40 pounds, and that they were hard to move around becasue of the pure energy, stuff like that.
Then, when making TESB he cahnged his mind, because he was reimagining the saber fights, with lots of one handed stuff, and lots of quick movements, etc. and the 50 pound saber thing wouldn't work.
Anyway, I think the "pure energy" thing is just dumb, as energy doesn't really have a weight, does it? Anyway, we can't think too hard about these things, it might lead to something like learning. So, let's just leave it at you think one thing, I think another. I really don't like arguing.

now I look at it, it seems I'm trying to end the argument with my last notes so it looks like I'm right, I won, etc. I'm not, I'm just saying I'd rather nto arguee about it anymore, not for any particular reason. ungh, I'm thinking again... quick! press submit!

added: I've not seen the movie for a while, but as I remember it, didn't it just go in his chest and then get pulled out again? It didn't really ahve time to fall down, did it? I'm sorry, I really don't have the best memory.

Well, either way what I said after that still counts.

I mean what is cooler? Yoda throwing the lightsaber into the droid, jumping on him and pulling it out, or throwing it then going over to pick it up from the ground where it fell.. Not very jedi like.

Maybe your talking about the other person who was talking about the saber, but when where we ever argueing?

well, you could look at it as discussing or debating, I guess.

indeed, hollywood always goes for the most glamorous then the realistic. It's actually kinda pointless...discussing it.

And as for the saber weight thing... as I said, horrible memory...I can picture either george or rick mccallum saying those lines, so... yeah.
