I just got interested in a movie called the Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Appearently--this is like, the 4th incarnation of the original.
I've been seeing words like," Inspired by a true story"
Now, I wouldn't use "inspired", but I was wondering--is it all real?
I've been to a site and it said that it wasn't real, and some deal about a guy named Ed Gein.
So...clear this up for me.
Real or Unreal?

I 4M T3H L347H3R F4C3!!!!1!@11!1333421!!!111!!!!!!

na i doubt its real

Might be like the move Fargo. They said it was based on actual events, but it wasn't.

Inspired...

Maybe there was some guy that would kill people with chainsaws, but people made it so he was leatherface and crazy exaggerations.

yep its "inspred"

i live in texas, and i remember this fella, he dun came from the house down yonder with his chainsaw. i threw a cow patty at him, he dun got mad and chased me down the block. i was like you aint gonna catch me and he never did

Most horror movies these days are just Rap artists in 90 minute non-scary blood fests... This could be good but I fear it may be another of what we have seen a lot of lately.

It's a real story, but the movie changes what happened quiet a bit. I live in Austin, TX and I have gone to the house a couple of times. It's all rotten out now and gives me the creeps. Basically, the guy was one of the family members that owned the properity and went crazy because of what they were doing...It's a long story to tell and would take forever to type it up. But, I will get a link for you guys that gives you the real story.

The Texas Chainsaw massacre was based on a true story. People would come from all around the world to get the best barbecue at this one place in Texas. Little did they know.... They were eating hitchhikers....

Oh, where is the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy when you need it..

the original movie was actually a conglomoration of real life events (most of them from Texas) built around the true story of human bbq.

most notable the the wearing and use of of human skin was a seperate event to the human bbq,

I beleive the chainsaw element was pulled from the way people were dismembered, and then recombined with another chainsaw killer incident that happened

I beleive it was made up as a bit of media hype, but of course it would have been easy to apply any witch tale and say based off of.

Ed Gein.

Use google.

Edit: The original was based more loosely on the story of Ed Gein, but I read somewhere that they used the story a bit more here, but it isn't about Ed Gein. As the tagline says "Inspired by a true story."

Ed Gein has had his influence in a lot of movies like Psycho for instance.

An Ed Gein article.

^ that was a good story. yet it makes me realize how much crap i put into my head :p

yes its true!!!

my great aunt knew all of the people protecting this man from the real story.they were considered his family.the 2003 remake of the texas chainsaw massacre is the best one because its exactly how it happened.i hope this answeres ure question!

Yeah, I bet Tredoslop found out three years ago.

This thread got me excited :(

:|

First of all, no, its not true, but instead lightly based on a single serial killer, Ed Gein, who killed people and used their skins and stuff. Not a whole family.

Second of all, this thread is so old. So so so old. So. Old. :p

Sounds a lot more like Silence of the Lambs, to be honest.

Oh poop someone already said all that. ;( Oh well, I tried.
