I'm currently playing through Half-Life 2 once again, but there's one thing I want to ask because it was quite some time ago I completed HL2 so I can't really remember so well.
Anyway, the question is; was this music ever used in Half-Life 2? It's from the original, played in the chapter "On A Rail" almost at the beginning of it in fact. Or to be more specific, it plays during the part when you're riding the train on the electrified water right after the section were you meet a security guard.
It's a really nice piece of music, it's pretty mysterious and kind of scary at the same time. It gives you the feeling of being abandoned, left alone fighting the aliens and grunts creeping up behind you. I think it fits the mood of the Half-Life universe perfectly.
In case you missed it, you can listen to it here (if you got QuickTime, just click on the link and it'll start playing. Otherwise, just right click and "Save as").
