This has just occured to me, it has been a long time since i played Half-Life Decay on the ps2 but i swear i remember Breen being in a wheelchair in it at some point, if not then who was it as its been getting on my nerves now just thinking about it lol

that wasnt breen.....that was some other dude........valve has already stated that Breen did not make any appearances in any of the first HL games

is decay worth buying hl on ps2 for, i mean its only 7.99 at my work, does it add much to the story?

I wish Decay would be released on Steam. After the surprise that was Blue Shift appearing on the Steam platform, Decay isn't exactly as unlikely as previously thought.

Decay has the Half-life single player game using the high definition pack that came with Blue Shift. The Decay portion of the game is co-op split-screen. If you can get it for $7.99, go ahead and get it.

Decay featured Dr. Richard Keller.

They both have white beards, but otherwise they look and act fairly different.

Also, Decay is the one expansion that clarifies HL1's plot the most. It's worth way more than eight bucks for sure.

Once again, I can't wait until Valve releases this for the PC. It's like a lost episode to a TV series (which is a good analogy considering what Gabe has said about episodic content).

i sure hope they release it on Steam.
i have the PS2 version and i feel handicapped every time i try to play it... (i am not a console gamer)
i would like to finish it but don't see that happening as long as its exclusive to consoles only :(

As Mecha said, it's not Breen. It's Richard Keller and they don't really have any similarities.

yeah cuz i saw a screenshot of this "richard keller" guy and i was like "no way breann wasnt just made up for hl2" but that is wrong obviously cuz its someone else :)
if it reveals any of the plot im for sure getting it, i would much rather have it for pc cuz i hate console games compared to my pc ones

It clears up a lot of the plot as you play as Gina Cross (delivers the sample to Gordon, the woman in the Hazard Course) and I think Collette Green. A large part of it is concerned with reprogramming and setting up the satellite that Gordon launches into space, they use it to try and seal the rifts.

If you notice in the original HL, as you get further into the game (around Questionable Ethics and onwards) there are fewer enemies that teleport in around you, presumably the work of the team trying to seal the breach created by the resonance cascade.

Gamefaqs have a walkthrough for it in which you can get most of the storyline stuff. I've also seen a proper storyline summary somewhere, but can't find it right now.

Gamefaqs: http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file/half_life_decay.txt

There's also this mod, but it looks like it's dead: http://hl2 source.com/?content=projects&id=decay

Need to remove the space in the above link because the almighty forum gods have decided that they'll block the text otherwise. Fairly pointless when it's so easy to evade.

Ah thats the one, i knew i remembered someone that kinda looked like Breen in a way, i just had a hazy image in the back of my mind, cheers for clearing that up.

OMG I don't ever remember HL looking that awful! Must be the console.

Er, no. HL looks that awful. In fact that looks pretty good for vintage HL1.

I always thought HL looked great. Even now, when I replay the game, I love the whole look and feel. HL is so centered on gameplay that the graphics (or lack thereof) do not take away from it at all. That's the problem with 90% of games that are released today -- it's all eyecandy.

Yeah that pisses me off about gamers now days, most people think a game is crap if its graphics are crap ...

When Half-Life first came out, people I showed the game to were like "Wow those are awesome graphics" ect... times change so do peoples views on older games. But Half-life still kicks ass I've played the game at least 15 times but maybe 20+

lol, the PS2 cant even fully handle a modified quake engine...

And the current X-Box can't even handle full-feature Doom 3!

What are you talking about? The PS2 version had better graphics than the Dreamcast version, which was using the HD pack.

Only in your mind...

Um, no, the character models in HL for the PS2 have more polygons than the ones in the HD pack. It's really not an opinion thing; it's a fact.

Is that likely? I mean, it'd be awesome 'cause it's more Black Mesa, but... Well, what do I know?

I'd openly embrace a PC SP or MP version of DECAY. I just couldn't bring myself to finish a console shooter. It's like trying trying to masturbate without thumbs.

You're one of those PC fanboys aren't you :hmph:
