Watchmen script features superhero team called "The Watchmen"

Hmm...I've been optimistic about this film so far, but some parts of that trailer just rubbed me the wrong way. Very peculiar. How about for the rest of you? Am I just imagining it?

Seems to me like they're trying to play it off as a regular hollywood blockbuster a bit too much in that trailer. Didn't like the choice of music either, and the editing wasn't as spot on as the last one. Action still looks amazing.

I really don't like Rorschach's voice. =/

People from the screening never complained about any "WATCHMEN!? WATCHMEN? WATCHMEN!" So Its odd to find it in the trailer.

I actually like Rorschach's voice but thats just me.

Edit: Infact it might just be alternate takes for the trailer.

I think it looks fantastic still. Be aware, of course, that trailers are very often more the result of the marketing department of the studio than the director. They're trying to catch people's eye, even if they don't know what's going on (because the story would take forever to explain).

Yeah the whole Watchmen shit could just be to grab people who haven't read the novel and give them some vague idea of what its about.

Of course im just being optimistic right now.

Awesome.

Rorschach's voice reminds me of TDK batman voice.

EDIT: What was the song played from the bit on mars onwards?

Worst I think the "Watchmen" reference could be is a renaming of the old Crime Busters group with Captain Metropolis.

Didn't like both trailers. The first thing to hit me when reading the comic was how realistic,
complex and well thought out it was. None of those things come across from the trailer.

It just seems very fake, plasticy, and focuses on special effects and action sequences.
None of the things that really mattered that much in the comic or to the people that loved it.

Besides for me the best parts were the stories at the end of each chapter like Hollis Masons
autobiography. They really added the necessary complexity and depth to the history. I can't
imagine any movie that exerts the qualities of the comic book having this kind of a trailer.

Yes they call these trailers this is what they do, focus on special effects and action sequences.

Also some confirmation from people who saw the screening say the watchmen references in the trailer are never heard throughout the movie, and none of the action sequences are actually in slow motion like in the trailers.

That trailer was kind of meh.

Trailers are just advertisements for movies, as such they are designed to quickly show you
what the director is going for, they're supposed to be a good representation of the movie
and more often then not they are unfortunately just a montage of the best parts in the
movies. Hence why in lets say the trailer for "In pursuit happening" there are no action
sequences or special effect, as that is not what the movie is about.

In this case it would have helped if the trailer established that the movie had the same
intelligence and insight about what superheroes would be in real life as the comic did, which
is what made it attractive and a hit in the first place.

Either the trailer is misrepresenting the movie or the movie does indeed suck, in any case it
does not excite me.

Marketing is notorious for rearranging scenes/dialogue/etc. to make something look different (i.e. sucker more cretins into opening-day seats). That's pretty much the case here and yeah it makes for a really shitty trailer, but at least it won't impact the final product.

Also this is the best picture:

I had to look at it several times but why the hell is your avatar in the video.

Just ordered the graphic novel from amazon for ?9, figured it was about time I read it and I'd rather read it before I see the film, just in case it is terrible.

I've heard the Black Freighter comic wont be used in the film, which doesn't surprise me, but does disappoint, because of how analogous it was to
Veidt

Snyder said they're going to include it as a feature in the DVD.

Apparently a special edition they may release a couple of years down the line will be BF spliced into the main story.

Bought the book a few days ago. I've only started it. Must read before film comes out.

Riomhaire bought book.

Hasn't finished it yet.

Must investigate further.

Pretty awesome.

Still not how I pictured his voice. I'm not sure if anyone could get it quite right...

You guys have made me loose faith in this film. I really hope they havn't changed the ending since it made perfect sense and was a great ending to a great graphic novel.

It made me feel really strange since i didn't "get" the novel or comprehend why i just understood that it had happened and saw how it happened.

I had some hopes for this film and now they're dashed, i hope you're happy /shakes fist at air

DO YOU FEEL THIS IS A BIT LIKE THE JOKER WITH TDK

eh?

*sigh* Not unless you do it too, or I quote it 5 more times.

But in seriousness, I do not believe Watchmen will gain the popularity of TDK, in fact, I think the general public will watch it and go "Weird, Stupid".

If anyone really wears any future Watchmen Merch besides blatant geeks, to quote someone else, I will ask, "What did you think of the squid?"

I'm really hoping Watchmen will be treated in the same way Hellboy was, good enough to get good reviews, but unorthodox enough only to attract fans.

Damnit, I went to the cinema today but we arrived just after the adverts and I BET a Watchmen advert was shown. I've yet to see a trailer for it on a big screen with proper speakers, I've only seen crappy Youtube videos, which alone are pretty damn good.

Booo.

For the premier I intend to shave my head, come in covered in blue paint and wear nothing but a black thong.

Yeah, take that, kids who are going to dress as Rorschach next Halloween.
