Watchmen Trailer

Just downloaded it, it appears there is only 1 chapter so far. Watched most of it, pretty dame good. Differently will watch all once i finish the book.

Just found this on SA.

Didn't think they would keep this scene in the movie. Looks like were getting EVERYTHING.

I re-read the first 30 or so pages of Watchmen today, so YES! WOO to the screen above.

Saw the trailer on IMAX before the Dark Knight. That SP song seemed to fit so well with it, what is the song again?

I know that they probably have to market this movie as an action packed super hero movie for the knuckle-draggers but am I wrong or was there not that much action in the comic? It has been a while since I read it but I am pretty sure it deals more with social issues than being a full fledged superhero story. I will have to read it again before the movie.

Oh and Zack needs to tone it down with the slow motion shots. I am getting sick of that trend.

The song is called "beginning of the end of the beginning" or something like that.

eh The only heavy slow mo I saw was viedt taking down the assassin but then again im pretty sure he was alot faster then the normal human being in the comics. Maybe I forgot.

Wow, yeah. That's a brutal part in the comic. If that scene makes it in though, I don't think anything else would be off-limits.

I just noticed this while watching the trailer again (the hair spray):

The attention to detail really gives me hope that this movie will be as close to the comic as possible. Also:

I finished reading it again yesterday, and alongside the trailer, there is a serious amount of detail going into the movie, though it seems some things are being altered somewhat - Nite Owl kicking someone in the face during the Rorsarche springing scene, for example. I don't mind too much, though. This is going to kick ass.

EDIT: Holy shit at the spoiler screens above. I don't care how drunk I am right now, I am so ****ing hyped regardless.

The Beginning is the End is the Beginning - Smashing Pumpkins

they have another song called The End is the Beginning is the End that was used in a trailer for Batman and Robin.

Fun fact: Billy Corgin routinely puts his shirts on backwards in the morning.

Just finished the comic, needless to say - awesome. It's going to be a pretty weird movie, though, especially for Snyder. Where 300 was dialogue-lite and packed with action (not to mention coming from a considerably smaller comic), Watchmen is action-lite and packed with dialogue. Like, PACKED. Full issues of little else but talking. I don't see how he's going to fit that into a big screen format without significant cutbacks. Or at least, if it's anything near faithful, it's probably going to be a total snore-fest in parts for the casual viewer. Especially -

Ozymandias near the end. JESUS CHRIST that guy could go on. I was begging for Rorschach to shut him up, but then he had to go and... ;(
Anyway, the trailer looks promising from an artistic standpoint, and 300 was a thrill for the senses if nothing else. Looking forward to it. :)

Just purchased Watchmen graphic novel with friend. Unfortunately it is currently residing at her house, far away from my lustful eyes.

Awesome, though (and I hate to do this) the weapon that officer is using shouldn't - or at least I don't think it was - of been around at that time. It's a silenced M4 I think, with a grip no less, and I absoloutly loathe it when movies put unnessecary gadgets onto things to make them look really badass because thats what appeals to people. But even so, I wasn't aware they were around at the time. I hope they aren't modernising it in too many departments but we'll see.

Well, considering it's been stated that they're sticking to the same era and war (which they should, as it is crucial to the story that they do), perhaps it's just a minor oversight if it is indeed an M4. It's a little hard to tell though, but it does fit the bill. Thankfully, in all they pictures I've seen they're using all 80's model cars.

Edit: Looks like it could be an M16 variant. Compare to the 3rd model down in this pic:

Just looked up that scene in the comic, looks pretty identical to the one they use there, only difference being the silencer.

I just looked at the comic myself and it appears there is a silencer on the weapon, but no grip. Honestly I hate being petty like this, I just wasn't aware the M4, or M16 with grips and silencers, were around back then. I thought they were Gulf/Iraq modified. I can live with it as it's really not that important.

Though, in the comic, theres a officer standing behind the officer being engulfed in flames. :P Alright, aright. I'll stop.

EDIT: Actually, where the hell did I get the idea there was a grip from? Looking back over the picture the officers hand may just be in that position because he's dropping the weapon. In that case, it's a perfect replica. Yaaay. :)

Also, remember that the Watchmen's 1985 is a bit ahead of our 1985. They even have a few things we don't now.

Doctor Manhattan to thank for that.

My God, purchased Watchmen the graphic novel with my "friend". It's so damn epic, I can't put it down.

Except... um... to type this. And play games. And sex. But yeah, can't put it down.

Unfortunately edit time has expired. I'd just like to point out that the Watchmen trailer looks over nine thousand times better now having read the graphic novel. It's gone from looking pretty good to looking completely freakin' awesome.

I finished it late yesterday evening and lay in bed constantly thinking about it, thoughts going round and round. Damn. Best 'book' I've read in a long while.

Whilst reading a link Yorick posted in TDK thread, I came across this:

http://www.giantrealm.com/film-tv/kevin-smith-has-seen-watchmen-and-thinks-its-f-ing-astonishing

"I saw Watchmen. It's f*cking astounding. The Non-Disclosure Agreement I signed prevents me from saying much, but I can spout the following with complete joygasmic enthusiasm: Snyder and Co. have pulled it off. Remember that feeling of watching Sin City on the big screen and being blown away by what a faithful translation of the source material it was, in terms of both content and visuals? Triple that, and you'll come close to watching Watchmen. Even Alan Moore might be surprised at how close the movie is to the book. March can't come soon enough."

Cool.

****.

****.

Hype-o-meter exploding.

I'm guessing that if I was to ask if I should buy the graphic novel here, I would be told yes.

Maybe I should.

So like, I bought the book the other day. It's fantastic so far.

Rorschach embodies everything I disagree with, yet I still like him the most. I can't explain it.

He's a robot obviously.

So yeah holy shit waiting for this will be torture. Until I forget about it tommorow only to be reminded a few days later that the movie is going to be ****ing awesome.

I am trying not to get hyped...trying oh so hard.

Amazing. Of course, these are only still photo shoots, but even so, still really good.

At this point, I think the only thing that concerns me is Ozymandias' suit design and general look. I really like how they've changed Nite Owl, but I'm really struggling to find the comparison between the comic Ozy and the movie Ozy. He looks really weedy now if you ask me.

Can't really complain about how Silk Spectre is looking. :P ;) Nah, I kid. It's a little concerning how scantly clad she is now.
