That article isnt helpfull at all :/ Doesnt explain how to make water work around meshes. + if anyone knows why one side of my models arnt coming up. Its weird ingame i cna shoot and hear the fences cant go through them also. But i cant see them. On the other hand the other side i have more fences and they are working fine.
If you can't see your prop models, it's likely that you messed with their alignment. At least, that's when I've noticed they have disappeard, when I try and move them and end up clicking on one of the size/alignment dots. As far as water and meshes, well I just create a displacement terrain map and then create the water box in it so that it shows above some of the displacements (don't know how correct that is tho, but it works). To answer your question about the color of the water, well I dunno, just started out on this. But I figure it might have to do with how the water_pretty water was made, or due to light sources.
edit: out of curiousity, i took a look at aztec again and figured it was like pretty_water to be sure. Then I was going to see if I could change pretty_water at all and noticed that that one texture I had been ignoring cause I couldn't read what it was was aztecwater. So there you go, use that one. If I understand some of the stuff I've ready, you can change some of the properties of water by editing a text file somewhere.
Alright im sure i did everything correctly. But while looking at the water from the top you cant see it. Its not there. But once i go inside its normal. How can i fix this?
make sure the top texture in hammer has the right water texture on it, and the underside should have the different texture (one is called ' high quality water', one is called 'water under') or something like that. It's not confusing.
Some screenies of my test-mapping with water that seems to work ok: -
