We are angry?

Why are we angry with valve... or vivendi?

Why can't Valve just let us in on their plans. We deserve there suppport, because we give them ours. They should be as kind and friendly as Rockstar are with GTA SA fans. Atleast they should tell us the basic, about the RC, or make a teaser site, and release a new slash of info every week. Can you support me on this one people, because if valve are reading this i think it would be best coming from you lot.
 
I say, just let them get on with what they're doing. It won't be too long now.
 
I'd like it if for ONCE they'd give us some information. Even if it was to say, nope its not going to go gold! or be released, it does make us angry when they don't tell us anything, its something they should do! Btw i'm a nub, what does RC stand for? :imu:
 
Put me in the couldn't care less category. If this game came out tomorrow, fine. If it comes out next year, fine. If it never comes out, fine. There are plenty of good games out there to keep me occupied.
 
Yeah but being supportive of the game, which is essentially part of being part of this community, i think we deserve just a little word now and again about HL2 etc. It's not much to do, but would make us happy :upstare: , well depending on the news :D

Btw whats release candidate mean then? hehe :eek:
 
RC is the version of the game they send to Vivendi for approval and then production
 
I voted 'I don't care' because I don't care for pointless polls like this.

Valve will probably deliver one of the best gaming experiences since the original Half-Life. Who cares when it arrives? When it's done, we'll be able to buy it. Simple enough concept to grasp?

Friendly? Does 'come visit us sometime when you're in the Bellevue area and we'll give you a tour' sound unfriendly in any way? Does replying on most emails they get (even if it's the millionth mail about the subject) sound unfriendly to you?

And about brining out news, it's a bit how a developer works, some report every fart, some say nothing.
And I think Valve will think twice before giving any more news about progress to the community, if something goes wrong with that (which happens 90% of the time), the community gets pissed. And if they don't bring out much news the community bitches for not bringing out anything. Either way, the community flings shit at them no matter what they do.
 
It'd be nice if Valve kept online developer diaries, so we knew exactly what was going on... you can't but get alittle annoyed when you hear nothing and you think that the games done...
 
This perfectly highlights what I said in a post a few weeks ago when people were clamouring for Valve to say nothing at all. I said that this community could never be satisfied because half of them want Valve to tell them everything, and the other half want them to just keep quiet and get on with it.

Valve's PR sucks. However, they are one of the most open and community-friendly developers around. What is there to be angry about? I think most people have got beyond any anger and are just waiting for the game now it's in the final stretch. Enjoy the quiet - it won't last.
 
I'm not angry, I wish i knew a little more than i do about what's going on.

Yes, they're PR does suck and i wonder if they know that. I wonder if they sit around thinking "HAHAHAHA... Look at the community squrm and get excited over every bit of info we throw at them!!"
 
They can delay the game for another year and give any info at all, I just wish they'd release the new Hammer. Apparently the new Hammer will come with the game, and the SDK soon afterwards.
 
I voted for "I love Vivendi and Valve", although I really only like Valve. As for the way they have been "treating" us as some people put it I really don't care. The job of Valve is to create a game, not give us good PR.

Most folks are oblivious to the delays. We, the faithful few know of all the ups and downs of the release dates, but to the majority of folks that will eventually buy and play this game, they couldn't tell the difference with good or bad PR.

There are HL2 articles, prerelease reviews, movies, interviews and tons of screenshots. The majority of folks see this as good PR and advertising.

Everything is relative. We see things on a smaller scale because we are those dedicated few who choose to be in the trenches, waiting for that Gold status. And again, I state that we are the few, we are definitely not the majority.

Overall, their PR is probably right on with any other company out there.

I think people just need to chill, worry about real problems and enjoy the game when it does come out.

/me looks at the Valve info thread, the CS:S beta, the continued support of the original CS, the fact that they are creating what could potentially be the best game of the last two years, the Valve secret pages, etc.

Ya they aren't very nice to us. :rolleyes:

I guess it's on in how you want to see it. I see them as answering some vital questions in interviews. I seem as getting the game out "when it's done". So, I will wait, albiet impatiently, till the game is complete.

I've had to sit through enough poorly programmed games that I just want it done right.

I think it's just that alot of folks on the forums aren't getting the answers they want right when the want them.

For instance, I know that they were planning on doing the RC yesterday for a hopeful approval. I figure we will here something soon after one way or the other.

I want the game as much as the next guy, trust that. No game has come close in my mind as what HL did for me. Valve doesn't just have my business, they have my loyalty.

I think folks should also not take things so personally.

Community support or no community support, angry or not, it doesn't matter. We'll just have to wait till the game is released.
 
I don't actually care. Or I do care, I want the game as soon as possible, but I'm not mad at Valve. I don't feel like they owned me anything...
 
I don't really care what difference am I gonna make and the more moan the longer it will take or seem to take.
 
Yeah, I hope they don't give away any more on the plot. Although I've pretty much been avoiding even the smallest of spoilers (I haven't watched the E3 2004 videos) I don't know how long I could take it!

I also don't want these forums to be filled with people doing nothing but flaming Valve if they are unable to meet whatever date they give us.

Yeah, real pissed at valve because they made shitfaced aliens that almost seem to steal my breakfast everyday.. Now it would still be okay if these bastards weren't so ugly.. :flame:

In any case, just to go back on the ontopic tour, people should quit whining and not blame Valve/Vivendi Universal just because they don't have anything else to do in their pathetic lives besides waiting for Hl2.. (and I'm one of those pathetic people waiting, but I won't criticize Valve for it, moreover my patience and my hatred/racism against Valve Aliens) :D
