We don't go to...

...steampowered.com forums. Horrible! Don't go there! 11-15 year olds abound, flauting their total lack of common sense and, for the lack of a better term, brains. Just a warning. I have spent about an hour there and I can already scream...

Sorry for the offtop.

P.S. my next post will be a little more productive.

I used to post there before I came here.

Steampowered Forums = Customer Support = Unhappy people
HL2.net = Fan Site = Happy people (for the most part)

Welcome to the forums

I am not 11 or between 15 and I go there, but I don't act like a child there either. :p

Still, every time someone mentions those forums to me I get the "Barney to Lamar" reaction going...

I'm NOT an animal man... :|

It was actually OK leading up to HL2's release. But now? Ick.

I have something against immature people.

It's called B*tch-slapping. :E

If you start behaving in a steampowered.com forums' fashion - yes. Otherwise - no :naughty:

Same here.

Those forums are absolutely unbearable. Too many people with tiny tiny little brains smaller than an empty glass... Scary.

This is a much nicer place but is still sometimes plagued with idiots who like to hang around and just talk out of their arse for a while.

The "Posting and you" flash toon they mention often doesn't help at all. There will always be some noob asking questions that are explained in depth in the stickied topics and those who will always complain about Steam itself.

I loved the hundreds of "Your account has been disabled" ;)

Actually, if you could ban anyone under (say) 18 from the forums I guess steampowered would be a lot cleaner. I'm not saying that everyone under 18 is an idiot (most are not, of course!), I'm just saying that the majority of troll posters are probably under 18. But anyway ... :)

I think Steampowered suffers from the 'CS principle'. Anything that attracts the masses tends to get a bit like that. HL2.net is a bit harder to find than Steampowered, so we shut out some of the more simpleminded trolls.

VALVe is nice on those forums anyways, when they ban, they just ban the name, people can re-register.

I spend as little time as possible there- to be exact I spent a lot of time there during the CS:S beta, but gradually started to lose the will to live as stupid people really do get me down. As soon as all my beta problems were over, I stayed for a while trying to help others with their problems- but it's hard work when forty odd peeps troll use cl_smooth 0.....all the time regardless!
I didn't go back there till after HL2 was released, I've made a few posts in there trying to help people with their stuttering problems, and while I can't remember anyone trolling me specifically- I still get the immpression it's full of 12-15 year old liars who like to act big.

So I try to stay away- just popping in when I'm in need of solutions or am REEEEAAAALLLLYYYY bored. The problem is sifting thru the hundreds of troll posts to get the info you require, it is much like banging your head against a wall, painful and fairly unproductive:(
