Weapon of Choice

Well I started a similar thread with a poll a long time ago. This time I'm doing the poll again. You may have voted on the first poll but in the time since then, you might have changed you mind. Choose your weapon of choice and give a reason why you chose that weapon.

I'm purposely leaving out the Ant lion pheremone bombs, and the fragmentation grenades because they don't shoot bullets and because a poll is limited to 10 choices. If you want to choose one of these left out weapons, just say so in your post.

OICW, kickass gun with a 20mm grenade launcher. The manipulator is cool, but it probably has a limited range and is perhaps not the best weapon to attack with head-on.

Although the sub or machinegun will probably be the most useful, I don't think I can resist the manipulator. Its just too cool not to use, and its the most original weapon in a game I've ever seen.

Read my orignal post. Poll choice constraints prevent me from putting all known weapons into the poll. Just choose 'other' and say so in the post.

the one used to set the combine soldier on fire.
i think it rocks.
wonder if you could use multiple different grenades on the gun, like in Unreal2.
that was the only thing i actually liked about that game.

That's the combine flare gun, not a nade launcher

so the flare gun that the combine soldier uses in the barricade vid is the same flare gun as seen in the tunnels vid? :x
the tunnels gun seems a lot more powerful... (and doesnt have a box around it )

lol. look at the flare. they are the same. The only difference is that the Barricade vid, the Combine soldier shoots straight up instead of at an angle....

still it looks like the combine soldier in the barricade vid shoots his flare from a gun that looks like a pistol.
he holds it like a pistol as well, with one hand.
it's really not as big as the weapon used in the tunnels vid. IMO.
(check the attachment: the soldier points his firing arm in the air)

dude, one is a flare, the other is an incendary projectile. Just because both glow in a similar manner doesn't mean both are flare guns, just one is, the hand held flare gun.

-Flares are meant to be seen, are fired from a flare gun, not built as weapons
-Incendary projectiles are meant to light up creeps like a christmas tree, they are fired from a large gun of sorts, are very much built to be weapons.

Ack, the shotgun isn't getting the respect it deserves. I think the manipulator sounds cool, but it strikes me more as a gimmick. It'll be fun for 2 min. and then I'll switch back to good 'ol lead. I know I'll be using the mp7, oicw and the shotty more than anything.

I think your wrong there..with the new physics, I think people are going to make all kinds of creative mods with the manipulator.

I can use a shotty or a machinegun in any game.....the manipulator and the crowbar are unique.

And just to back Flyingdebris, a flare cannot set someone on fire unless they are drenched in a flammable liquid. The combine shoots a general flare used for emergencies in the barricade vid. Freeman shoots some sort of incendary weapon or maybe even a special type of projectile that causes a person to spontaneously combust, since it is a futuristic game.
