Weapons for HL3 (proper thread)

What weapon capabilities do you want to see in HL3?

The thing about HL2s weapons were although they were revolutionary, there were not plentiful, neither could you hold a lot of ammo at once, thus making it frustrating for some players.
There were good weapons like the organic gravity gun for instance, but again, where were the alien weapons!

In HL3 there should be another set of revolutionary weapons, like a much more intertwined gravity gun, or abilities where the player can intertwine with the world of Half-Life. What are your opinions to the poll and weapons of HL3?

Challenge: Think up 20 ideas for the gravity gun, not including HL2 capabilities!!!
 
Just don't bring back the Gauss (player held) or Gluon guns. I'd love more Snark/Antlion type things though.
 
In all hope, we'll be takin' it to the combine baseworld (I don't want to say "homeworld" because of the nature of the combine), so we'll be seein' lots of cool new alien weaponry.
 
I liked the plasma rifle or whatever it was. It had a nice sound to it cranked up on the 5.1's.
 
lol secondary fire is the coolest especially in a small hallway. it bounces everywhere
 
More human weapons I would like, since this would make it seem slightly more realistic and therefore more immersive. Half Life is so great because it is immersive, so more so would be great.
 
It might be interesting to see add-ons to the HEV suit, turning it into a full out combat armor. Rocket boots or something kooky like that.
 
I would love to see the classic weapons and more, I just hope the crowbar will be more useful

Yeah, players who don't give enough thought to conserving ammo. Let it be frustrating for them, it'll do them good. ;)

I like having to put at least a little tiny bit of thought into how fast I'm chewing through ammunition and for which weapons instead of just running around the game like I've got my own personal logistics train tagging along behind me keeping me supplied.

Hah, weird, the first option, which I voted for, was something I always wanted in a game, and thought Source could be capable of. We can pick up and throw bottles, but what I want is different.

You have, under your Crowbar, or Gravity Gun, a slot reserved for picked up items. Only small items can be used like this. Let's say you pick up a glass bottle. It now is in a first-person view, as if it were a normal weapon. So, now your primary fire will throw the bottle, and your secondary will break the bottle on a wall, table, or whatever you're close to and aiming at, and then you can use it as a knife and stab people. That would surely catch my attention in a game.
 
I'd like to see more combine weapons in HL3. I'd like to use one of the sniper rifles. Another thing that would be kinda cool is more varied vehicles. Perhaps a combine mech or something.

Also, more suit modifications would be cool.
 
lets be realistic people, flamethrowers dont fit into the HL universe.

How about that handheld fusion cannon nuke launcher from Turok? (the blue one)
 
I'd like to see some sticky energy gravity net, that wraps around the enemy and makes the person its wrapped to a magnet (or gets psygun attraction propperties), so it now attracks objects hehe, imagine this in a room filled with heavy cabinets and tables (or sawblades hehe).

1: something like that was in XIII - you coul for instance pick up a bottle and use it as a melee weapon. nothing spectacular...
2: why modify something that's already well developed, if not perfect? I mean GG as it is in HL2 (not to mention SuperGG) is one of the greatest tools ever given to the player in gaming history. imo changing it would spoil it...
3: maybe we'll visit combine's nest, maybe not. but I'd like to see some of their technology turned agains them. it would also be cool to use time as a weapon...

be able to swing objects held in the gravity gun and kill people with them
 
More variety plz. And more alien guns like snarks. I really missed the futuristic experimental stuff.

I voted for a more advanced grav gun. I quoted this from the Chaos UT2:Evolution website (an UT2004 mod) and an ability like this in HL2 would be very cool

The flares were replaced by the bouncy balls of energy.


IMO, HL2 could have used exactly one additional alien/experimental weapon. We'll probably get a few in the expansion though.
 
I remember the cerebral bore in Turok 2. Shoot it and it would send this thing and go into there head, blood flies everywhere and they die.

That should be a gun for HL3!

The eneimes should have a gravity gun :).
 
In HL2, valve decided to get the original weapons of HL, with oh so awsome graphics, changing very little, and adding few weapons (as well as removing some), makes sense for a "part 2" but in opposing force, there was this huge gun, that when charged enough teleported you to some part of the alien world, a sepparate room, not always the same, where there were aliens , and some supply, that always gave me a sense of ....control, or -at least- deep interaction with the world of HL itself, it was very cool, also a sniper rifle would indeed be a good idea, i thought, when i first fought a sniper, that there would be one, but no....sniff.....:'( so I found myself using the magnum as a sniper (heheh) also the prototypes were a lot of fun, so bringing them back would be a good idea.
 
I'd like to see a gun that releases a sonic shockwave that demolishes anything in the blast radius. Plus I'd make it so it sends enemies flying 30 feet in the other direction ;)

Whenever I think of this weapon I've conjured in my brain I think of that sonic shotgun thing in Minority Report
 
i think that would be a little too powerful but it would be cool to use it.

I like the flamthrower idea though.
 
flame thrower would make sense as there are cremators.
 
Alien weapons for sure. I find it a little strange that an advanced race such as the combine would be using Earth technology (the most sophisticated weapon in the game is the gravity gun, and that's presumably a human invention).
 
I want a chickenator. Then you can pick up the chicken with the gravity gun. The world's coolest gun in the world's best game.

Seriously, the gravity gun should count as more than one weapon. Hold onto a manhack and you have a chainsaw. Toss it and you have a reusable instagib baseball. Hoppers can be grenades or tripmines. Converting ordinary stuff into shields and projectiles of course. The endless satisfaction of exploding barrels. I don't think the grav gun should be changed one bit.

I think they should bring in more prototype weaposn like they had before. I used to loovee it when i was walking through Black Mesa and come upon a room labeled something like "Experimental Weapons Lab" or something. In fact I love that in every game. hehe
 
OK, if I wanted to be less derivative I'd say a headcrab launcher. Turn human enemies into zombies! Sit back while they fight amongst themselves! Briefly annoy non-human enemies!

Third thought: I CS can have smoke grenades then HL should too. 'twould be fun. It'd be creepy to hear a manhack humming around a smoked-up room without knowing where it is. 5.1 would come in handy.
 
I want some more realsitic guns like the ones in current use. An AUG couldn't hurt and instead of a glock or USP I think Gordon should carry a 1911. Also a G36C or G36K would be nice. Cheers!

A personal flying machine. Nothing more elaborate than the airboat, but a nice little ultralight helicoptor would be nice. Very maneuverable and equipped with the same gun as the airboat, perhaps a few rockets! Oh, and of course, a parachute, when things go awry!
 
I have no clue, but I can't wait to see what they are! :D
