Weather simulation?

Will we be seeing rain, thunder, or maybe even snow in HL2, you think?

Valve have said that their engine will support weather effects.

Exactly what this means isn't known yet - probably it will just support sprite-style rain (see UT2004) and snow, and maybe thunder and lightning.

No weather has been shown in the Binks anywhere, so here's to hoping. I'd love to see a showdown at the end with rain, thunder, the whole she-bang.

i think Yes there will be weather effects.. But not randomly. like levels in one level rain...in another level sun and so on

There WILL be weather effects, how good and what kind is still to be revealed.

I think someone e-mailed gabe to ask and he said that there wasn't going to be weather but you could easily mod it...

Hi,

Source supports effects like rain, wind and fog, and with some work it
would be possible to add effects like lightning to the skyboxes.

source can do weather, although there is nothing special about the weather, just your standard sprites.

I bet source can do thunderstorms, and we've seen rain firebolts and wind.

I bet you can make the wind blow stuff down.. I'm 100% sure

YES, I believe the wind effects will blow objects over depending on how strong it is, if you watch the TRAIN bink you will see a gust of wind go past when u get off the train, if you watch the floor you will note that the rubbish blows around with the gust of wind. It looks very impressive indeed. :thumbs:

Yupp. That's the first thing I noticed the first time I watched that movie. Looks great. So we know that wind is a part of HL2. I bet there will be some rain too. Just a shame if it isn't.
