Not a big fan of them. Just got back from my friends. The Wedding itself was only like 20-25 mins thank god. My brothers and my sisters' wedding was like 40 min each and I can't stand long weddings ceremonies, especially when your standing up in them. Besides that I got to see a shitload of people I grew up with and apparently I'm one of the last of my old group of friends not to be wed yet. I'm cool with it, but sometimes I just wonder why I never try to settle down. I loved the reception, but I hate dancing and 80s songs that no one likes anymore

so anyone have to be best man, get married, or have any other griefs with weddings??

I just went to one tonight and got ****ing drunk at the reception. I under estimated how drunk you could get off of wine. I'm talking like serious drunk. Like puke all over your mom's car on the way home drunk. Yeah. I'm still trying to sober up. Good times.

nice, my date and I went to a pub in between the ceremony and reception, it was hilarious. out of 5 games of darts we pretty much were even match at 2 wins a piece before we realized we were late for the reception. then i got there and drank some more, me thinks I had a few too many but I was just drinking Oktoberfest Seasonal beer and Labatt all night.

I have already decided that i will probably never get married, just because no woman would ever want to spend their rest of their lives with someone like me, and i wouldnt be able to stay faithful for more than 2 days. But IF i do get the perfect girl for me, i wouldnt care for marriage because its a load of bullshit anyways (except for the legal benifits). If i do get married id do it non-religiously, and then blast hardstyle techno with strippers n shit and free weed for everyone. Id even have a big ass screen above us with porn playing. The bestman would be a rapper that raps about how hes gonna kill everyone in the audience with his gat, and then proceed to throw dildos on everyone.

While all this is going on, there will be naked bitches handing out free Big Macs to everyone, and coca cola sprinklers for unlimited coke.

I've only been to one friend's wedding. Not someone I knew particularly well. It got to be pretty boring.

I only had like three really good friends in college (undergrad), and they're all still single, as am I. I don't know what's wrong with all of us.

pick me pick me!

I think I want to be your best man

yeah my wedding ceremony will be in a crypt, with everyone wearing black, and there will be no 80s dance music, just heavy metal and pornstar barmaids and strippers as well for the older gentlemen and hot tubs, and everyone has to get a hotel room and it will be in Hawaii or someplace warm all year round.

Just got invited to a friend's wedding early next year. Might not be able to attend for several reasons and it's kind of bumming me out since he's a really good friend. Not sure how I'd tell him. :(

I managed to avoid going to two cousins' weddings this summer, lol. One of them was a complete bridezilla who spent the past year planning every aspect of her special $80,000 day.

I do not care for things like weddings and marriage.

I'd rather have an $80,000 extra garage and snowboarding hill. damn 80k can buy you so much shit and I'm willing to bet shes gunna divorce at some point.

Bridezillas are horrible. My ex was one. I am never, ever gonna marry again.

One of my sisters got married in July, it was a ****ing blast. Seriously, most fun evening I've had in many many years.

I think when (assuming things continue to go well) I get married it'll be out in Sri Lanka for some awesome tropical beach reception goodness.

Weddings are amazing. I'd never been to one before, but it was my cousin's wedding in July. All held in a really amazing hotel in the Gloucestershire countryside. I somehow managed to drink three quarters of a bottle of Bacardi neat from the father of the bride's clandestine free bar, in addition to all the other alcohol of the evening and lunch.

Needless to say, I couldn't go home the next morning and had to stay with nearby relatives all day until they dropped me off at the hotel to pick up my bike at 7 in the evening, for the 100 mile journey home when I would rather have just climbed in bed. Good times...

I'm going to my friend's wedding in Sri Lanka next August. Arranged marriage, the mad fool, but he seems happy enough with it and it's a great excuse for a week-long overseas holiday so I'm not complaining!

Both my sisters have been married already. Weddings were ok, but some of the family politics surrounding getting two large extended families together when no-one is particularly well off was a bit irritating. I think I personally am in some bad-books with relatives simply because I didn't get round to see everyone. My family can be like that though.

Haven't really thought about what I'd want. Do cider barns do weddings? Who am I kidding.

Which hotel?

Was as my good friend's wedding last night, coincidently. He did his ceremony lime I'm doing mine, short and sweet. It was rather amusing that his father (an ex-judge) was the ceremony officiant. My wedding will be here in a few weeks. Yes, an open bar at a winery. :naughty: I love wine country NY!

I went to a cousin's wedding in March, & then I've got another cousin's upcoming in November.

The March one was good, it stands out quite well in my memory as being the place where I heard that Portal 2 had been officially announced, lol.

I was at my cousins wedding on Friday, was a great day! :D

Was nice to see all my family in one place for once as it doesn't get to happen often. Was a great laugh and thankfully there wasn't any fights or arguments since there is a lot of politics in my family xD

I've been to one wedding before, and I don't remember anything about it.

Been to one after the commencement of my drinking years. I'll just say that free alcohol is a very, very dangerous thing. Good times!

I've been to three weddings, and they are terrible things. You're forced to interact with possibly-hundreds of people who you don't know, don't need to know, and don't care about, for hours on end, and you can't get drunk enough to enjoy it without being obviously drunk and ruining it for others.

There are many reasons to prefer smaller, immediate-family-only weddings.

Oh sweet, do you know where you're staying yet? I can tell you where's best to visit :)
You should try driving there btw, they're hilariously maniacal on the roads.

Ah neat. Somewhere in Colombo is all I know (oddly, as my friend is Tamil).

So I hear! My friend and his brother went there for two weeks in May and toured the country on motorbikes. There's the possibility of us doing a bit of that next year, but I'm not sure my pasty white self could take it in midsummer. :)

Well, it's the capital I guess. The Pinnawala elephant orphanage is an hour or two drive from Colombo, it's pretty neat for us tourist types. Couple of hours further to Sirigiya and Anuradhapura they're cool. Lotsa other nice places scattered around though.

They're too equatorial to have much seasonal variation other than monsoon, it won't necessarily be hotter when you are there than it is in May.

Awesome, I love elephants. British animals are so boring. We always try and say hi to the sheep (not in a Welsh way) whenever we go up on Dartmoor, but the timid bastads just run away. Cows and wild ponies are slightly more interesting, but still not very interactive.

That's good to know. My friend came back a significantly darker shade of brown than when he went away, which I would have thought was impossible...

I'm looking forward to it. Not every day you get to see a place like that through the eyes of someone who could pass for a local.
