A fantastic Steam news update has been released covering news of a new Half-Life 2: Deathmatch map based on the old classic "Crossfire".[br]A long with this, you can also see some pre-release strategies that Valve have planned out for you to get you all ready for de_port's release (along with re-make of de_inferno) in the next couple of weeks.[br]Here's the rest of the news update:
This week we'd like to give everyone some information on our new Counter-Strike: Source map that we've been working on, as well as a new Half-Life 2: Deathmatch map we'll be releasing next week.[br]It is a bit daunting to learn a new Counter-Strike map right as it's released, so we've gone through de_port and tried to give people an idea of what our design intentions were. Click here to get to a page that outlines six different strategies to try once the map is available. We're still shooting for release of de_port (along with a redone de_inferno) in a couple of weeks. Next week's Steam news will include some pictures showing off what de_inferno looked like as it was being built from scratch.[br]We'll be releasing a new Half-Life 2: Deathmatch map this coming Monday the 25th. This new Valve created map is called dm_runoff and was inspired by a Half-Life 1 favorite, Crossfire.[br]de_port pre-release strategy guide.
Exciting stuff ahead, as usual if you haven't seen the news yet or you want to see it pop-up in a tint of green, then restart your Steam clients.

Ready-made plans. :( I always liked how people would have to adapt and come up with their own plans. I guess clans will still do that, or someone will come up with a new, more effective plan.

Very nice update..can't wait for the new maps

I don't want new maps, I don't want cheaters, VAC2 please. Thanks

Nice update. Quite a bit of thought has been put into to it aswell. Runoff interests me most.

Oh hell yes!

Yeah man, enough distractions, let get some real updates: VAC2, new CS player models, and some hard info on DOD:S

I hear that!!!!!!!!!!

Awesome news! The "Runoff" map is a completely nice surprise, finally official crossfire-remake and they're releasing it on 25th! :eek: I'm also looking forward for playing on port and inferno. Pity that they didn't include in-game screenshots in this strategy guide. Lovely, Valve! :E

They already have.. remember, it's going to be released..... "soon".... :p :devil:

I am excited about the news for a new map for DM, but if I'm not mistaken, there are already several versions of crossfire out there.

I will say that the three maps from Valve are of high quality in all aspects, so I would expect their remake, runoff, to be up to the same standards. It would be nice to have an all original map from Valve though (like the highly original lockdown).

For those that didn't know, steamlab is actually a remake of datacore, an old HL1 map, and I think that turned out well.

Cant wait for the 3 maps.

Crossfire = best hldm map ever
de_inferno = best cs1.6 map
de_port = looks very interesting.

There are two versions already, in the form of dm_crossfire2 and dm_crossfire_source.
But, to be honest, crossfire2 isn't very good and although crossfire source is better, it could have used some refinement.

It's not a remake of Crossfire, but rather a map based in a water runoff area that incorporates the "call in the airstrike, defend the bunker" gameplay. Hope you enjoy it.

Aww ports a daytime map :( I was hoping it would be set at night.

Yay, is cliffe!

This is good to hear, because the world needed more bunker/airstrike maps.
A totally different layout probably means the map is much better set up for HL2 gameplay too.

I'll bet they'll have news at this year's E3. TF2 can't be that far off anymore...
