Here's this week's Steam Update News:
Day of Defeat: Source is ready and we're set to make it available on Monday, September 26, at 3 pm PDT. For those who have not yet pre-purchased the game, the 10% pre-purchase discount offer ends when it is released.[br]In addition to pre-loading DoD: Source, another good thing to do in preparation of its release is to update your video card driver. With HDR and other advanced features included, DoD: Source pushes the limits of the Source engine a bit harder than other Source games. Check over at NVIDIA or ATI website for driver updates, depending on your hardware.[br]Day of Defeat: Source will be available as an individual purchase via Steam, as well as part of the Counter-Strike: Source retail package that will be available at stores around the same time. Half-Life 2: Silver and Gold package customers will automatically be able to play.[br]Finally, as we await the game's arrival, IGN.com posted a preview this week with a large collection of DoD: Source shots and video footage. Full reviews will be appearing beginning this weekend and web sites and in game magazines.
Restart Steam to catch the full update, or click here.

Apparently one was released as I mentioned in the last news post.

Yep... just checked it. It loaded Dystopia fine.

You'll obviously need to restart Steam and make sure that all the games are set to auto update.

Dystopia works here
god cant wait for monday to start playing DoD again ^^, didnt play it since version 1.0 released. We should make a server for forum members and have a party !

Wow what an amazing Update News, pity it was the same as last weeks one, with a link to the ign article added.

I await next weeks Update New:

Dod Source was released. Heres a picture.

1) Get a debit card - no yearly fee!

2) Maybe not all is lost. Go to www.steampowered.com , support section. Click me.

Debit cards can be used. If you parents have a card that will only let them take the money they have in their account that has Visa or Visa Electron on it then it should still work.

Otherwise, you'll just have to buy the package with DOD and CS in it from the shop.

Nice generalisation there. I have 2 debit cards. Both my younger brothers have debit cards. My mum has debit cards and credit cards. So does my dad. I'd say we were a pretty typical family, and we live in Europe. In this country you can get a debit card from the age of 11, possibly even younger now, so it's worth looking into wherever you are.

Interesting so, where do you come from?

Yea, all of our family members have such cards with electronical money on it,
but there isn't a symbol like the Mastercard or Visa.... ,
there is only a Maestro symbol. And when i try to purchase dod:s through steam with this card it doesn't work.

I have a card like that too :(

It'd be wise for Steam to start accepting Maestro. It accepts Visa Debit cards.

When you purchase, what card options are there? If there's one for Switch then try that, because Maestro recently merged with Switch.

When i try to purchase i first have to wright the name which stands on the card and than i can those between, Mastercard, Visa, American Express, Discover, JCB.
After that i have to put in the credit card number and choose the wright date on which the credit cards end.
I also don't now where to find that date.

Update: have you seen the massive preview of Dod:S at Gamespot.com - it makes me drool: there are also lots of new screenshots available. You can read the preview here.

Well, I originally paid using a Visa Electron card (Steam being the only online service that accepts this ****ing thing...), and often online I use my solo/maestro card where it says switch is accepted. Expiry date is on the card, like "Expires end 04/09". Looking at steam now... it seems they've reduced the cards that are accepted. I'd be tempted to just bung my card number in whatever and see, but I'm not about to test that 'cos I already have all the games on my other account. I'm from the UK btw.

Nice find! There's some good shots of the playtest.

Humiliation!
Bad PR

Wow the mini map is in Source, it wasnt shown in any other previews.

Damn I cant wait

bebit cards rock, but theres other ways you can pay online, dunno through steam, but like using your checking account number you can pay lotsa bills.

its amazing though how many kids nowadays have cards. when i was like 16, no one had cards of their own. I don't like credit cards, something seems stupid about spending money you don't have

That preview kicks ass! All those screen shots had me drooling as well. I can't wait to get in and start playing. I have not looked forward to a Monday this much in a very long time!

How do you do that?

Click steam, then go to play games, then right-click any game and click properties, then set it to "always keep this game up to date".

....
The "fans without credit cards" market is not a particularly big one, nor is an "uprising" in it particularly threatening. Valve, I'm sure, will surviive losing your business if you refuse to buy CS:S or borrow a credit card.

In one of the gamespot pics (the one showing the unterofficer class with the mp40) it shows two potato mashers, and they have wierd symbols around them. Is there supposed to be a timed explosion and a impact explosion versions now? If so then... sweet.

very true, better games come out all the time, its not big deal to miss the valve games really, its not like theres a shortage of great games out there or mp servers.

i reakon thats the market, valve wants to cater to older gamers with cc's and not kids, kids will prolly get there games for christmas anyways, but not alot of parents will buy a game over steam for their kids. kid says : " I want DOD Source" parent doesn't find it at walmart, and they'll buy them something else.

no big deal, valve prolly ain't hurting for money so isolating a big chunk of the market isn't a big deal

Im talkin about the update that makes a big cock up

The update which was resolved for hte vast majority of users within twelve hours? I hope your life didn't suffer too much because of that. Seeing as how the content in several of Valve's products (such as CS:S) has more than doubled since release and they continue to offer tasty incentives (HL2:DM, HL2:DM maps, DOD:S, Lost Coast, etc.) to their customers in a way that almost no other developer since I played Warzone 2100 has, I think they can be forgiven the occasional hiccup.

In other words, Valve is one of the only companies that I can trust to remain loyal to me as a customer even after I've given them my money. With Valve, I paid once for the silver pack and have had a continual stream of incoming content since then. With, say, Far Cry, I paid once for the product and have had only the original content, and just as much frustration (bugs, recalled patches, etc.) in the long run.

People complain about Valve because they hold them to a much higher standard than any other developer. I just don't get it... but to each his own.

I think Amazon and PayPal accept it, too, in Europe at least.

Truer words are rarely spoken.

Oh, and thanks for the tip, pizzahut.
