In this weeks Steam News Update, Valve explains that these next few months "are looking like they will be two of the busiest months for Steam since the launch of Half-Life 2." Why is this you ask? Well, Ritual Entertainment’s first installment of the SiN Episodes, aptly named "Emergence", is scheduled to start its preload phase very soon and the full game is supposed to be released via Steam this May.[br]Switching developers now, but keeping the episodes strategy in mind, Valve's first installment of the Half-Life 2 Episodes series, given the title "Episode One" (I think it works), is also looking at its preload phase slated to begin a month before the games release. No specific release date has been given in this weekly update, but we’ve heard from Valve's director of marketing, Doug Lombardi, that the game is ready for a May 31 world-wide release… Yes, in 2006.[br]On to Valve’s currently released titles, specifically Counter-Strike: Source & Day of Defeat: Source, both will be seeing some new additions in terms of maps. Counter-Strike: Source will have a HDR-Upped version of de_dust, as well as two new player models, release soon. Day of Defeat: Source will be seeing a new map addition that will present a new style of gameplay.<br /[br]Lastly, Valve didn’t want to leave out its mod community, so they have given well deserved recognition to the Dystopia team for winning the 2006 IGF Half-Life 2 Mod of the Year. A big congratulations to them.[br]To see this weeks Steam Update, click on that little black and white square on your desktop, or simply click here.
