It's been mentioned a few times, but I was thinking we could come down to a definite decision on this subject:
What about a Weekly Thread in the General-Off Topic Discussion Forum?
It's purpose is simple: A casual thread where you can discuss everything between heaven and earth but not discussion-worthy enough for it's own big thread. These days, there are many threads created which only get a few replies and clutter up the off-topic forum, which would be perfect for the weekly thread. You could post random funny links, ask a quick question or let people know about what has happened during the day.
The main argument against it seems to be that it will encourage to spam.
Well, for one, you have absolute power over the life of the thread. It is deleted when the max page amount is reached, the posting is getting ridiculous or at Sunday 11:59 PM. A new one is created only at Monday 12 am.
The amount of pages is decided depending on how long you imagine it will last, thinking of how often people post and the amount of posts you can post at once. The limit is 30 seconds, so I reckon it could have a fairly low amount.
Second of all, your view on spam is seemingly not tight enough to forbid a weekly thread in my opinion.
So, what I'd like to know is what the fellow members think of this, and of course what the staff's opinion is.
