I'm making some research on ISS (International Space Station) and planning to map a version of it taking place in 2030-2050 or so.

My main question is. What would be the easiest/best way to simulate weightlessness. Do I have to script/code it in or just fizzle around in Hammer somehow?
.
Any help would be appreciated

in source you can set gravity to whatever you want..... I think its sv_gravity or something similar to that, well you set it to 0

The problem is, it's hard to do much of anything when the gravity is 0. HL2 wasn't built for weightlessness. If you're on the ground you'll be able to walk/run/crouch normally, which would be completely unrealistic. Once you jump, you'd hit the ceiling and stay up there. And you can pretty much do nothing from that point on.

You'll have a hard time coding in some new movement mechanics to make it playable and not frustrating.

Yes I realised that it would be quite hard to achieve a good effect. I guess I have to fizzle up a side-story that there's somekind of artificial gravity or sticker boots :p

Some sort of weightless gravity-based puzzler would be pretty cool. Perhaps where you have a specialised recoil weapon which, when fired, sends you in the opposite direction, and you have to solve puzzles with limited amounts of ammo. Make this mod instead.

Hmm that water-basis idea sounds good though. I will look in to that. Thank you very much.

Actually if I manage to pull this off, player will be an astronaut character so at the station you will have no firearms, perhaps only something to hit with (but there wont be any enemies on the station). The station will work as a intro-level .
