I've been having this odd internet problem, and as it's rather annoying I'm finally getting around to looking for help on it since I can't think of anything to do.

The problem is that after I leave my computer on for awhile without using it (the time seems to vary, sometimes only like 20 minutes, sometimes up to an hour) any internet browser (firefox and IE) will stop working. For example, I go away for 40 minutes, then when I come back, bring up firefox and then it will do the little loading thing and eventually say that 'www.google.com could not be found'. This happens with any website. The really odd thing is that other internet services will still work, such as instant messanger and steam.

To add another twist, we're on a router, and only my computer is having this problem, leading me to think it's a program or something that's doing this.

It's also been doing this before and after I formatted awhile ago.

The problem is solved by restarting (refresh and renew via cmd doesn't help) but as you can see, that's annoying to do every time you come back.

Now help me!

:D

Also to note, such as now, as I just came back from school, it let's me go here and a couple other ones I go to frequently, but not other places.

tried rebooting the router by unplugging it for about 20 seconds?

tried pinging anything via cmd? does it give you an ip when you do ipconfig after it stops working?

Ok, my specs are:
AMD 2700+
9800pro 128mb
512mb ram
shuttle mobo, with onboard lan

But like I said, since I'm the only one on the router that's having this problem, I think it's a software problem.

To answer maxi, you can't ping any website, but pinging the router will work.

Sounds like the routers killing your acces to the internet. Check the routers settings.

Yar,

but that doesn't make any sense:

1) it's only my computer

2) other programs like msn and steam still work fine, it only affects browsers.

Some ports are blocked? is your windows firewall turned off?

Windows firewall is off, using zonealarm.

One more thing to note, I've set up the router to put me in the DMZ, but that shouldn't have anything to do with this problem right?
