Weird Noises!

For some reason, ever since I was a kid, the automated messages with loud beeping and a serious voice you get on phones always creeped me out, like when a phone is left off the hook.

This was me as a child. And the voices on storm warnings. And Windows error noises (I actually had to replace the standard set on the family computer when I was 10, because they just freaked me out way too much).

My car makes strange noises. The other day while driving home at 5:30 in the a.m., I rolled the window down and stuck my head out the window a bit to listen. I was very very tired and confused. I think all of the tires are going to fall off soon. Let me tell you, it is kind of upsetting.

Yeah, Windows Error Message sounds scared the shit out of me as well, especially at night

Oh yeah, staying up late at night on Neopets and getting an error message? I would spend the rest of the evening constantly looking over my shoulder.

Looking over your shoulder, presumably, to make sure that nobody found out you were playing Neopets.

stupid fag posted a torrent link

This is what the media corporations want you to believe. However, torrent links are not illegal unless the content in them is copyrighted AND unauthorized to be freely distributed. There are plenty of torrents that are 100% legal. For example, Linux - a free Operating System, is mainly distributed through bit torrent. An example of copyrighted music that is authorized to be freely distributed is 'We Vs. Death' which is distributed through bit torrent by their publisher.

es, but I use a Macfggt so I have just turned all the noises off.
I use Windows, and whenever I install it, or create a new user account, one of the first things I do is select 'No Sounds' from the control panel. I can't stand the sounds. If

Otherwise, you'll be listening to a song really loud, and then I get some loud ass startling beep.

Perhaps even more relevant here on the Half-Life2.net/forums:

The distribution model named Steam is essentially a private bit torrent distribution system. It was designed by Bram Cohen, who created Bit Torrent.
Cohen wrote the first BitTorrent client implementation in Python, and several other programs have since implemented the protocol.

In the summer of 2002, Cohen collected free pornography to lure beta testers to use the program.[2] BitTorrent gained its fame for its ability to quickly share large music and movie files online. Cohen himself has claimed he has never violated copyright law using his software, and he suspects the Motion Picture Association of America would love to make a legal example of him if he did. Regardless, he is outspoken in his belief that the current media business was doomed to being outmoded despite the RIAA and MPAA's legal or technical tactics, such as digital rights management. In May 2005, Cohen released a trackerless beta version of BitTorrent.

In late 2003, Cohen served a short stint at Valve Software to work on Steam, their digital distribution system introduced for Half-Life 2.

By 2004, he had left Valve and formed BitTorrent, Inc. with his brother Ross Cohen and business partner Ashwin Navin.

The scariest sound I can hear around here is the tornado sirens going off in the middle of a big storm. And trust me, it's terrifying.

I just found out that the weird noise was in fact a Raccoon. If you remember recently I did run over a raccoon near my house. Coincidence?? probably not, just that time of the year. But the crazy fella went through our trash and then it drowned in our pool. We usually have a pool cover during the winter months but my dad said he saw the animal stretched out and dead in the pool today. Its kinda a happy ending for me

I was going to say raccoon.

I've got one that comes over occasionally and goes through my trash outside. I've threatened him from the window - first with a boat oar, and then with a baseball bat; but he is an ogre raccoon, so I didn't want to tangle with him unnecessarily. I don't think he is planning on stealing my identity.

That's kinda sad that your friend drowned.

Well, I guess I wasn't talking to most people. :p

Also, copyrighted stuff can be authorized to be shared, as I said.

Beep! Beep! Back up the Truck is the first Dutch record label to distribute their complete discography for free under a Creative Commons licence. By using this licence all of our releases can be fully streamed and downloaded for free online, as it should be!

Still, our main focus is releasing and promoting hardcopy albums. Since our digital stuff is free we put a lot of effort in creating beautiful artwork which you can show off to your friends.

In short, times are changing and that’s a good thing as long as we don’t forget to support our favourite artists.

More info at www.beepbeep.nl

Thanks for seeding! Here's a 20% discount!
All of our releases are available as free downloads here at Mininova. Why? Because it’s only fair not to pay for something you haven’t heard yet.

In our opinion torrents are an excellent way to present you our music. That’s why Beep!Beep! and Mininova have teamed up. We like the fact that you’re taking the effort to get to know new music. In fact, we’d like to thank you for downloading and seeding our music by giving you a discount on our hardcopies.

On the original topic, I sometimes hear strange slow flying sounds outside my house. Like a, UFO? But then it abruptly stops. Also I sometimes see glowing eyes in dark looking at me and dissapearing and strange people taking pictures of my house in the forests so I am really surrounded by paranormal.

All in your head by chance?.

Even I feel uneasy in my house when its dark and I've been watching Most Haunted or something.

Probably more to do with your biology then genuine paranormal guff.

I get freaked out when i think i hear stuff moving in my house when im alone, like a killer trying to sneak up on me... or this one time when i could hear this almost Grudge like sound coming out of my radiator. Most of the time i man up and check out whats making the sounds, when i slightly feel like a pussy, not literally, i get my katana and check it out.
