after successfully installing the digital version of Oblivion (direct2drive) and attempting to patch it with 1.1, my comps been acting strangely
first it gave me a blue screen Kernel error of some sort (should have written it down!) when patching the game, and then it started asking me for a password when starting windows (a password has never been set on my comp so it went through without it)
now here's the strangest part... ever since then, my comp has been processing things very slowly... for example when i try opening msn messenger or firefox, it will take 2-3 minutes for it to load
i restored my system back to just before installing Oblivion (when it was working properly) but that hasnt helped much
its still asking me for a password upon startup (checked the user account settings), and its still processing slowly for the first 5 minutes or so each time i restart (its fine as im typing this)
so what could it be? im thinking it must be a software issue but might it also be a failing hard drive? or bad ram?
your help is greatly appreciated, dont hesitate to ask me for more info
specs:
windows xp pro sp2
asrock 939dualsata2 mobo
amd 3000+ 64
evga 6800GS 256mb
1gb ram PC3200
sb live xgamer 5.1
450w thermaltake PSU
most parts, save the sound card and ram are relatively new
:frown:
