Ok this is so odd. For some reason, out of nowhere, my comp is locking up. I hear a strange click sound every now and then it sounds like its coming from my harddrive, and when I hear it my comp locks up, and then about 5-10 seconds later I get control back. It's just having randomn freezes out of nowhere and then coming back. What the hell is going on?

Acutally, its a trojan lol. Trojan click 6.0. Sadly I can't seem to get rid of it. I thought I deleted the files but theyre still there. I'm in safe mode as I speak, and I can't access my normal system because the trojan restarts my comp and locks it up. I dont know what the hell to do.

sounds like spyware to me.

i disagree... i think it's some form of demonic possession...

run microsoft anti-spyware (anti-demon) programs

How much RAM do you have?

Hard Drive clicking and lock-ups can possibly mean that your system is out of RAM avalible.

You don't have another computer on the network do you? When my brother got a few bad virus' I scanned his mapped network drives with my AV software.

Nope. Just this comp. And I have a gig of ram. I really hope I dont have to reformat, I have alot of important stuff on here.

Asus I just tried your link. It's wonderful knowing I have at least 2 Trojans, 10 spyware files and about 13 adware files. However it doesnt do anything to fix the problem. What can I do to remove them from my system?

hypocrite

oh wait... so am i ;(

:( please help me. i deleted all the files the scan said it found. yet im still clicking lol. i cant be on my normal desktop for more than 10 seconds now without the blue screen of death coming up saying critical error.

you tried getting a registry scanner to see if there is anything there that is causing the files to reappear and interfer with your pc. Also have you had a look on the norton, mcafee sites to see if they tell you how to get rid of it?

just got 530 problems found and fixed using a registry scan.

good good, report back to see if it has sorted the problem, good luck!

nope. turns out i have 640 problems lol. sadly 5 were fixed because its a trial version. i cant spend money. so therefore i cant really repair anything. :(

Well incsae anyone cares, I'm in safe mode, sittin here, playin smash bros melee, while i repair 10 out of 1,500 registries at a time lol. damn trial versions....

lol ul, THIS IS WHY U SHOULD ALWAYS HAVE ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE!

ppl these days theinking they invincible lol :p

technically everyones invincible til they get hacked :-p

When you do fix this Spybot is a good idea. When this is fixed please do not look at nekkid women online. JK

Well I repaired my entire registry...all 1500 problems lol. However it did nothing. Still clicky harddrive, still trojan, still blue screen of death 10 seconds into normal startup.

oh and i cant install avg because im in safe mode :(

idk if u read my above, i cant go into normal mode because my computer locks up and restarts literally 3 - 10 seconds into it.

Format and reinstall windows... All problems solved. Except the fact you have windows still :p install AVG then... backup your data in safe mode onto another harddrive or an external one. Or when you reinstall windows, make another partition for it and you'll save your data. I think :)

ok really weird...i put in my motherboard cd (i have an asus a8v deluxe) and i went to install the AsusUpdate program, and it said no Asus motherboard was detected...is this due to safe mode or is this just more fuel for the fire?

it's your porn getting back at you for feeling unloved and used ;(

im thinking its more than the trojan...because i must have used a billion different software trials and theyre all turning nothing up anymore. but the click is still there and my comp keeps crashing so...

I am telling you. Backup whatever you have then reformat. It is that simple. Then once you put everything back on your freshly formatted HDD, you can put your backed up files on and scan them to make sure they don't have any viruses. :)

If you knew what the virus was called you might be able to run one of these tools in safe mode and get rid of it.

Oh and safe mode does not load any special drivers so that is why it might not be detecting your board as an Asus board.

Turn off System Restore in Safe Mode and try to run system scans.

well i was fast enough, with my new camera :D , to get a picture of the blue screen of death. maybe someone can tell me what to do b4 i go on a reformatting binge (something id rather not have to do)

http://img149.exs.cx/img149/8996/dsc005466ua.jpg

and im running xp, i only have a 2000 cd. i boot with the cd and win2k setup says it cant detect my harddrive when i try to reformat..

that error message is about your graphics driver, have you reinstalled them recently, because they appear to be crashing your system from that screen picture. I would completely remove them and then reinstall them. Something they are trying to do is making windows very unhappy!

Also google for a program called "hijackthis" (tis quite small and free). This program allows you to permanently delete registry entries that keep replacing themselves. You take a log of what hijackthis says then post it here - if it's a trojan or spyware problem then that might tell us more about it.

If you find any registry enties which point to files you know to be spyware, delete those reg entries, reboot in safe mode, then delete the files they pointed to. This is the bread and butter procedure I go through whenever I encounter stubborn spyware.

The blue screen of death problem might be something you have to reformat to solve, if it's not spyware. Reinstall all your graphics drivers, etc before you even consider doing so, however.

Thanks for the help guys, but for some reason the time I took that picture, that is the only time I got THAT blue screen of death. The other times it didn't say that. It had a different message. Alot more paragraphs than that. I'll take another shot and show you guys.
