I wrote about memory errors several times and after tech support made me change some of my setting , nothing seemed to work. Well, when connected to steam last night, it did an update(assume patch) and today so far have played awhile and everything seems to run ok. But, I still maintain I should not have had this many problems to play what I feel is greatest game to dat(have to love that physics engine). Should have played out of box with patches forthcoming to just tweak the game not playability. But, I will tell all of you, steam, valve and sierra- using steam to protect copyright and need it to access files just to play the game is absolutlely the worst thing a company has done to the consumer. Just a nightmare, and of course none of this will be mentioned in anyone's(g4 or magazine) reviews. It should be because this was an un necessary hassle to the many gamers who just wanted to play the single-player mode. But thx to steam my copy sat around the house all day because they did not have enough servers for the registration. And you can not even uninstall steam if you want to-I have tried but error 1306 comes up to prevent me. Do not like steam.do not want steam and now have to have it on my system. Must have been a better way to protect the product then the hours of frustration most of us have gone through. Keep everyone posted if game gives out again. Cheers Tom

I wish you luck with getting the game working and staying working. I also thing that steam was the biggest cock up in piracy-prevention history. It caused hours of frustration for many users, and did it work? no. It's still be pirated, there is even a way to exploit steam itself to download hl2 through steam for christ sake! I mean, the hours of trying to stop steam being a steaming pile of sh!t would have nearlly been worth it if it was impossible for crackers to crack. But nothing is impossible. Crackers will crack it no matter what they do, so they might aswell just give up.

10/10 for the actual game
1/10 for set up. I seriously hate steam.
