People at OT forum are much better, so I posted it here.

Over at General Forum, I think I saw whole page in delay threads, and angst kids screaming about how they won't buy HL2 and how Gabe suck now, so on. You can see a big difference between fans and fanatics. These idiots are quick to turn on Valve, thanks God I respect Valve too much to scream over something stupid like release date.

So guys, I just want to know how you feel about it (don't want waste my time going through piles of spam at general forum).

I just wish Gabe told us when Spitcodfry went, or even before that... they had to have known.

I was right, I had a gut feeling it wasn't comeing out next week, things just didn't add up.

Anyway I am now very relieved that vlave have confirmed the delay, although I wish they had done it sooner. Unfortunately the morons in general think they have somehow been ****ed over and that ruining HL2.net will give them some kind of justice.

I's just a game, but alot of people here (includeing adults) don't seem to understand that. I bet they care more about this than the war in Iraq.

Well the war in Iraq has lost alot of its potency for people over in America (and im sure about everywhere else except Iraq). I have to confess, I havent been listening to the news like I used to, so I am sure people care more about HL2 then the war... definatly.

Yes! The past week I've been waiting for this. in the deepest, darkest hours of the night I have been muttering 'please let hl2 be delayed' over and over. Why? I'm not getting a new pc till october.

F YOU BUDDY F YOU... ITS ALL YOUR FAULT!!!

*picks up large stone* Anyone up for a stoning tonight? *remebers The Life of Brian*

Release on 30th= a unfinnished game = disapointments, even more hate Valve threads etc etc etc

Release when its done= finnished brilliant game = a epic game

Amen.

It's almost disturbing to see people get this worked up over the release of a game. It's really disappointing to see people go from 'They said it was coming out the 30th, so STFU!' to 'Damn Valve and all their stupid asses!'. Either you support them or you don't.

I knew all along it was going to be delayed, and I expressed my opinions about them. All I got was flames and adolecent replies in return. I think all those people can stick their foot in their mouth now. I'm sure Valve had good reasoning behind the delay, but I'd be suprised if we ever honestly know why.

The bottom line is that it's just another game, with another delay, that everyone's still going to buy anyway. It's nothing new and shouldn't suprise or piss off as many people as it did.

I think you will find most educated people in the UK talk about or at least hear about the Iraq situation most day's due to the Hutton enquiry (the death of doctor David Kelly after he said the goverment lied) is constantly revealing our goverments lack of morality, oh and there's the fact bombs are going off every day in Iraq, Allied soldiers are being killed and important people are being assasinated.

Sorry, but here's two Dr Kelly quotes:

"I'm not sure if my iraqi contacts would forgive me for not stopping the war"
"If this goes to war, I shall be found dead in the woods"

hmmmmm

oh, and about the delay... I really don't care :p just means its not ready.

Ha, can we expect some Hutton Inquirey with Valve as the Government and Fragmaster as Andrew Gillingham.

Yeah, when all the delay threads started appearing I nearly ran to this forum screaming "Sanctuary, Sancturary!".

In fact, all the stupid threads kinda made me embarrassed to be part of the Half-Life 2 Community.

Ha, general forums made me embarrassed to be part of HL2 community a long time ago. But what can we do, it's internet.

Aha, Yatta took a picture:

Mr.Reak read Democritus' delay rage article: he posted it a few days ago, it's hilarious to read it again and see that the people on these boards reacted in the exact same manner the article described they would! :D

and who's going to be doctor kelly, Dough Lamb. ?? I don't think he's commited suicide yet (lets just hope he doesn't visit the general forum).

I am considering abandoning the general forum for the next week or two. Its just a chaotic, flaming, spamming, battlefield.

Hah, you guys should see the "Deleted Threads" forum we mods have...omg...talk about delay threads! :D

I'm not up in arms about the delay, because obviously they are trying to make the game better by doing so. If the game were released buggy as hell on the 30th then the game would go down forever in the halls of infamy. So I commend VALVe for it's decision to put out a game that they know could be better, because too many game companies just rush their product out the door early just to meet some fiscal deadline that they set. Then you have to DL all eleventeen patches to make it work on your comp like it was promised to in the beggining. I used to go to electronics stores and just assume that the products I saw were finished, unfortunatley I can't do that anymore, and I rarley buy new games for that reason. I usually wait 4-6 months after a game comes out to get it so I can THEN play what was supposed to be a finished product those 4-6 months ago that it came out.

That was my support for VALVe delaying the game (if that wasn't already obvious). Here is my beef with VALVe: They had to have known that the game was going to be delayed, for quite a while now, if they are now announcing that they are aiming for a holiday realease. This is common sense. It wasn't just today that they got to the office and said to eachother,"Oh shit guys, the game is so far behind that we might miss our initial release date by months. Someone, quick, warn our rabid fanbase of our egregiously idiotic oversight!" That senario did not happen, I can almost promise you that. I could make an educated guess that, if they are saying that they might possibly be months behind schedule then they have known that they wouldn't make the 9/30 relese date for at least a month (and realistically probably a month and a half to two months but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt). And if they have know for this long that they weren't going to make the release date then it was irresponsible for them to wait 6 days before their date to say that they weren't going to make it. Some people ask what VALVe owes their fanbase. And to these people I say EVERYTHING. Without the HL fans VALVe wouldn't have made any real money, and HL would have been a cult classic. But we spread the word about that awesome game, and to this day I still try and convince people who haven't played the game to go out and buy it. For this support for all of these years VALVe could have acted a bit less like a self-absorbed music artist in an interview they don't want to be in, and more like a business who realises that it owes everything to its fans. I have been (and still am) very excited about this game, but I try and suppress my bounding excitement over games until very close to that games release date. Judging from the flame wars on the general discussion forum, I'm not the only one who feels this way. And VALVe, being gaming enthusiasts themselves, know this. It would have been such a SMALL effort to announce that the game was going to possibly be a holiday release a while ago and this would have made many people, like me, feel better about the whole deal. I know this is a long post, and most of you probably didn't even read the whole thing, but thank you for listening to my opinion.

Arghg...reading overload.
Anywho, I think its a little early to criticise. We have no information whatsoever on WHY it is delayed, just the fact that it is.
I'm holding my opinion until I know whats going on.

Well I for one am not surprised at all. Did you really expect people to talk about headcrabs and such when the game is officially delayed?

Heck .. I didn't even go into General today ..
