I don't know about everyone else but this is bs. All of the problems and bugs in hl2. Was the 3 years really worth the wait? Don't get me wrong, the graphics and AI are really kick @$$, but all of the crap that's wrong with it. Here's my story. I know man, ya wana hear my story? No. Well too bad. All right, I'm above minimum specs. So after the 1 000 hour install, it takes another 15 min.s to decrypt the files. So I go to play it and it wants me to update my drivers. So after DLing them, I restart my computer. Then I go to see if my drive needs a defrag, and It's fraged up the @$$. So two hours later, I go to play it. It's all going cool. I go to start a new game. The G-Man is talking (kick anis graphics.) Now here's where I snap. All of a sudden, the G-Mans voice cuts and repeats, then my computer reboots. Now that just pushed me over the edge. I'd had enough of HL2. I go burn it off in Far Cry, reboots as well, same with SC: PT. Now that's kinda queer because I'm over the minimum specs on all of those games. So I surf the forums for an answer. It turns out that the drivers that they tell you to dl make people with my video card reboot. So I install the old ones and it works. That's my story, post your own and let me know what you think.

I agree, it's *dangerous* to tell people to "always keep their drivers up to date". Drivers have bugs too.... if your current driver versions work, stick with the "if it's not broke, dont' fix it" philosophy, until you hear different.

I've heard someone say before that they rolled back their driver in XP and it fixed a crash problem.
