Alrighty here's a good one.
Lying there in bed, watching The Sixth Sense.
About 1hr 10mins into the movie, my closet door slowly opens.

I slightly get up a little to see what possibly went in, nothing.

I stare at the door for 2 minutes, heart feeling like it's going through my throat...cold air blasting over me.

A second after, I see my cat's tail come out of the closet!

Jeeesus christ, my heart was pounding before I saw her tail.

Yes, I get scared easily. :|

When I nearly drowned in the ocean because dad thought the best way to teach me swimming was to chuck me in the water and watch me fight for survival. COME ON SON, IT BUILDS CHARACTER.

Oh, and seeing the aftermath of a murder downtown. Wasn't so much scary, though. Just a lasting creepiness that gave me trouble sleeping.

Some of the threads that get posted in this section scare me.

Watching the BTK murderer confession and later that night hearing a bag rustling around the house, turns out my cats were sliding around on a plastic bag in the kitchen, scared the hell outa me, thank god nobody was awake I looked like an idiot walking into the kitchen with my SS knife out.

For Halloween we make these dummies, by stuffing some clothes with newspaper and a full head mask for the head. Looks like a normal person wearing a mask unless you go close up.

Well one day when I was coming home from school, I saw it sitting on the porch, which is where we placed it. But I saw another one too. "Oh, I guess my brother made another one"

As I get to the door... You guessed it, the new one jumps up and screams. It was my brother wearing similar clothing and another mask. I was so shocked I fell on the ground :P Scared me to death. One of the biggest shocks I've ever experienced. Well put together trick too, I might add.

Watching the grudge.

*pansy alert*

That's the only time I can think of right now.

That was the worst movie I have ever seen. It was not scary at all. It was just plain awful. I can't stand that movie.

i was about 5, and it was dark in my room, i mean pitch black, you can't see s**t
and im trying to get to sleep and the door (which was locked) opened, all i can see is the hall light go into my room, i don't have any animals, so it scared me, i went over to close the door went to go back into my bed and my brother grabbed my leg from under the bed and i screamed like a little girl, thats the scariest time i've ever had, whew..

Oooh, Dog's post reminded me of a scary moment I had.

Alright so, first of all, one night I had a nightmare. In it, I walked into my room, and went to turn on the light. Flick the switch, nothing happens. Que terror moment. The camera swings to the right (you know how that can happen in nightmares) and there is my brother, on this spinning chair, spinning around while his face was perfectly still in an abnormally large grin.

About a week after that, I walked into my room one night (this was not during a dream) and I go to turn on the light, and it doesn't turn on. Holy f***ing shit it scared me to hell. I then knelt down next to the dresser covering my eyes, not even looking in the doorway. I literally sat there for what may have been 10 minutes. That's a long time when you are doing absolutely nothing. When I realised I wasn't dreaming, I slowly got up, and realised that there was no lightbulb in the socket. Once again, my brother pulled an amazingly genius (and effective) prank on me. I never told him about my nightmares again.

like I said, I'm a pansy.

now that I've thought about it, when I was about 5, at halloween my dad had bought this grim reaper costume or sommat with a big ol skeleton head mask. I was eating breakfast, and he comes walking into the kitchen with this huge knife he has. I screamed and spilled my cereal all over the floor. I then proceeded to cry for about 15 minutes, even after he reveled his true identity.

*grumble*

Once I was driving to school on an icy December morning. I picked up a friend, and resumed my path to school. The car's motor was quite cold, so it was hard to accelerate. On the highway, the motor just stopped. I was frozen, inexperienced, and I didn't know what to do. Instinctively I put the vehicle on "Parking" and turned the keys so that the car would go on. At this point I was beginning to hear all the cars honking and stuff, but then I got it settled. My friend was all like, "GG noob."

Ok, good story. A for effort.

I have a couple. First one is about 2 or 3 years ago. It's in the evening, but it's still light outside. I'm the onnly one in the house, and I'm watching TV in my bedroom. Getting hungry, I stand up and turn the TV off so I can watch it in the living room. Turns out I just slightly missed the power button, and the TV screamed at me. I was so scared, I RAN faster than I ever thought I could while inside into the next room. I knew immediately what it was, but it shocked me so badly.

As for the second one, I'm coming home late at night from dropping my girlfriend off. I get out of the car and head towards the porch, when from behind me, my cat races past. It's dark outside, and my cat is dark gray. (We named him "Gray Cat" because he used to be a neighborhood cat, but he liked our house so much, we pretty much adopted him.) I knew before I got scared that it was Gray, but it still scared me shitless once he passed me.

A few times in doom 3 (and in ravinholm)

When my old iMac got owned by lightning

When my computer stoped working when i installed a new ram card

I almost drowned once when someone pushed me underwater, but that didnt scare me. The first thing that came to mind was "I'LL KICK YOUR ASS FOR THIS!"

I remember one.. It happened not too long ago. I wake up nearly 4-5 in the morning when it is still dark but light enough to see.. I remember I needed to bring the garbage out and proceed to do so at this time.. So I grab everything and walk towards the end of my driveway.. I had balloons from a birthday party which my mother wanted me to throw out.. The one was floating behind, mind you I am still half asleep and in that state where you are confused by the slightest things. I walk and glance over my shoulder and see something coming at me.. I f***ing jumped, slipped in mud, fell flat on my ass/lower back.. I was scared shitless. I honestly thought someone was following me or something.. I then hurried and put the garbage away and ran back in the house..

Mostly playing Doom 3. Or when someone sneaks up on me in the dark.

You know what still scares me to this day? I'm going to be 19 in August, and I'm still scared to go into my basement while it's dark. I know that nothing is down there, but there's just that uncertainty. It's not furnished, the lighting is horrible, and it smells.

Say what you will, I'm not embarrased about it. Anyone else scared of the basement?

Edit: I remember a Halloween where my friend and I would scare a lot of people. We were handing out candy for a neighbor, and I was in a full grim reaper costume. I would sit in the yard right in front of the stairs motionless. It was a cloth mask, so it was hard to guess if I was real or not, because it smashed my nose, plus i had the hood over my head, making my eyes difficult to see. My friend would tell them to touch my hands because "they felt weird". When they would get real close, I would scream and jump at them. Even some adults wouldn't come near me once I did that. Best night ever.

Yes... My house itself is extremely old...made in the early 1700s.
We have a dirt cellar, the lighting is acceptable...But it doesn't help at all.

I keep sensing the feeling of death whenever I go down there, there's a an awkward lump in the ground of the coal shaft...the size of a coffin; and no it isn't coal. The air down there is always hard to breath... there's cob webs everywhere, dust, and mice.

Anyways, It's just scary as shit to go down to... also strangely whenever I go UP the stairs I feel the need to run up them, as if I'm being followed.
:x

This wasn't so scary at the time (AND WTF WHY WASNT IT) but it creeps me the hell out now.

About a year or a year and a half ago, I was on the comp in the middle of the night, speakers off. I wasn't ultra tired or anything, had been up 5 hours or so (messed up sleeping schedule)

I hear, clear as a bell, a woman's voice say "You're hiding.. what are you doing?" I thought it was my parents but they were asleep and snoring. That freaks me the hell out now but at the time I was calm about it. I don't know why. And I wasn't really hiding from anything/my mind telling me something useful either, it was middle of summer and I had no obligations. Odd and scary :[.

You failed to say if it was your TV or not. :D
But that is pretty creepy.

Had an almost alike experience.
Last weekend, I'm home alone... it's 11:00 at night... I'm tired as hell.

I'm just typing up my resume for work, and my speakers start making static noises or noises as if it's tuning into something... this goes on for like 3 minutes... all of a sudden a huge evil-sounding female voice yells out of it screaming "YOU F*CKING LEFT ME THERE TO DIE!" then the speakers just die.

Good lord, I've never been that shook up in my life what it comes to being in my house.
I sat there frozen for 3 minutes.

TV was off, not to mention across the house

The stairs in my house have surround sound.

When you walk up them bottom of the stairs creak, it really sounds like someone is following you.

The scariest thing I can remember...

There was this pumping station thing that me and my friends used to like going in, there were tunnels and loads of cool stuff in there, one day the bastard neighbors decided to call the cops.

I remember looking out of the small window seeing a car roll up and an officer get out,
I shit myself and looked around, I saw the access ladder going to into this sewer tunnel, I climbed a little way down and swung round on to the other side of the ladder,
I just hung on there, about 20ft below me was a deep pit of sewage,
I heard the police guy come in and look around, my arms were killing me, I felt like I was going to slip and let go.

Eventually he left and I climbed out, that still traumatises me today.

Maybe it was your mother yelling while sleeping (having a dream or something).

It wasn't my mom's voice at all or anything. Trust me, I'd have known if it was.

I wish to this day I had a conrete explanation but I don't. Probably just some mind thing that happened but that was one of the 'creepiest' things of my life. Things have been a lot scarier (IE: Danger etc) but that one just irks me due to the nature of it.

Yeh, I still have problems with darkness. And when I walk up the cellar stairs I just WANT to run because I really think someone is following me. Sometimes, when I go to my computer (it's in a room that previously was the garage, so I have to traverse half the house before I get there, most of the time in complete darkness), I sometimes feel these really weird vibes, as if someone or something just goes right through you. Then I feel how that vibe goes another direction (most of the time to the right) and I just follow it with my eyes. I've kinda grown accustom to it, but it still feels weird.

i was outside like 5 years ago with my little bro and we live right next to the woods and on the other side of the woods they were doing construction so we would hear them working throughout the day, but one day they weren't working over there and we heard and felt something pounding into the ground, but i figured it was an impact hammer or something over at the construction site
so we kept walking around near the edge of the woods when a couple seconds later we heard and felt another pound on the ground, but this one was clearly closer and louder, a second or two we heard another one even louder and closer, and then again a couple seconds later, and the vibrations were getting bigger and closer
we booked it into the house and waited to see if we would hear or feel anymore, but thankfully it had gone away
scared the shit outta me, though, cause it was sounding and feeling like something big was walking towards us, and i sure as hell didn;t wanna find out what it was, i'm still wary of the woods to this day, cause i just get this feeling something's down there, somewhere

One time I was sleeping on the couch in the morning and I was woken up by a really loud screeching sound that didn't sound like a human or any of our cats or our dog. It lasted for only a second. It didn't sound anything like the phone, more like a weird banshee or something. And the TV was off.

And one time my folding knife thing was on top of my computer and it was shaking from side to side, I was scared that something was messed up with my computer so I touched it and it was not shaking at all, and as soon as I felt my computer the knife stopped shaking. Wonder what that was.

On Halloween a year or two ago There was a doll thing with a mask that looked like it was stuffed with newspaper or something was on someones porch. We went up and it jumped up and screamed and freaked us all out.

Maybe someone shares your cardboard box.

Having an epileptic seizure - that can be pretty scary, although I imagine it's worse to watch.

I've lost concioussness, and my memory. But only for a few seconds.

Well I'm not really afraid of anything. I'm like my dad, its nearly impossible to scare me. I can sit in front of a scary movie with the speakers up very loud and not even get scared. Though I hate my basement alot. Thats the only thing I'm afraid of really in my house. It doesnt freak me out like scream and not want to go down there anymore but I'm always afraid for some reason theres going to be something down there waiting for me, even though I know theres not because I dont know how they could get down there. It still freaks me out though.

something i cannot explain even to this day is something that happened in my old house while alone

it was about 2/3am in the morning and i was finding it really difficult to get to sleep and i was tossing and turning like you do and i heard this sudden MASSIVE bang on the roof above my bedroom...i just froze and held my breath...lead there in silence for about 2 minutes i heard nothing and was still a little shook up so i just shunned it off as my imagination...i carried on trying to get to sleep and BANG...same noise again, as clear as the first time...really shat me up...i lead in silence again and about a minute later it banged about 3 times in a row

so i thought what the **** is going on so i got up and looked out my window and thought i saw someone stood in the garden waving at me then it dissapeared...and the banging stopped. that night is as clear in my memory now and i remember it exactly as it happened...i even wrote down about it to make sure i wasn't dreaming and i still have the piece of paper with it on

veeeeeeeeeery creepy

This was the only really scary thing I can remember - about two or three years ago one night I just woke up bolt up right in my bed in the middle of the night. I looked over across to my bedside table and it just started shaking. Not like slightly but pretty violently, I absolutely shat myself and turned the light on I just stood there looking at my desk going hmmm. I opened my bedroom door and went downstairs and thought bollocks to that I'm not sleeping there.

I thought about it later and thought it could be my brother trying to prank me, but then he'd have to have string or something which there wasn't any, and he's not sadistic enough to play a prank on me at 2-3am in the morning (or at all).

Hmm. Its hard to remember any right now... Do situations like "I AM SO ****ED" count? Those are kinda funny when you think of them afterwards.

Well hmm. Maybe one was after I saw this real creepy dream. In the dream, I wake up into a grey summer afternoon. Its like any other "morning", I see light coming between my curtain as a arc, I try to remember what day is it and am I late from something, etc etc. Then I hear a weird sound. Its like a growling mixed up with drums and some bass - hard to describe. The volume varies and it keeps little pauses. The sound doesnt get louder but somehow it just slowly covers all other sounds under it. I stand up from the bed, walk to my bedroom door like in bullettime, go to the front door through a strangely off-focus room. Then, I open the front door, and step into the veranna.
In the yard, pretty close to the veranna and still walking towards it, is a somekind of creature. It has two big sabertooths and looks like it smiling, kinda. Its hands are somewhat likely to HL2:s zombies, and the creature is all grey, same colour as the sky and the light. The growling-drum sound gets just sickenly strong and I wake up, screaming weird babble from hell, and in cold sweat.
The room I wake up into is exactly the same as in my dream. ****.

I still can remember that creature and the sound perfectly, and I've been trying to draw it several times. I often notice myself drawing the creature into a desk in a middle of a school class. Ive never seen any dreams of the creature after it tho.

So. There you have. Post more later if I remember...
