Okay, I haven't gotten Episode 1 yet...I was just wondering what the new enemies are. I haven't seen any in screenshots yet.

zombines! combine soldiers controlled by head crabs :) I hope that it what you are after, hope I didn't spoil anything if it wasn't :p

So are the zombines just a combine-esque skin for zombies?
What are the stalkers like?

Zombines are like zombies except...thier faster, take a lot of bullets (go for the head/crab) and tend to pull out live grenades (which you can snatch from them with the grav gun).

If you played HL2 stalkers are those skinny people from Our benefactors that you see when crusing through the citadel.

Zombines excellent. The headcrab munches off the Combines head and takes over it's body - creating some really superb headcrab-radio crackle. It's essentially a headcrab on the bloodied corpse of a Combine soldier, but it's pretty freaky and runs like a demented monkey - with a penchant for pulling out a grenade.

Stalkers are met in the combat zone much. They are more for display, which is the best way really because lets be honest - why would you kill a weak human slave?

Because its slaved mind wishes to take you down?

/me shrugs...

stalkers WILL attack you if there are two in a room and you kill one the other one will ATTACK you....with all caps at that

Really? They never tried to kill me:|

They did me. Shot at me in the core and removed the energy balls when I was crossing the bridge. Bastards.

The freaky and really disturbed thing about stalkers is that they really were humans... It's so sick when you think about it...

To put them out of their misery. Or to deny the combine their services. Stalkers after all seem to be the maintenence arm of the transhuman army, so taking them down quickly and painlessly is a double win. On the one hand, you're ending the suffering of an obviously tormented creature. On the other, you are depriving the Combine of technicians to maintain their military-industrial complex on Earth.

Having beaten the game now, I feel a bit cheated enemy wise. (and money wise for that matter)

Zombines didn't even seem like new enemies. They were basically tough zombies with the tiniest tweaks and a kamikaze move. I only heard the much-talked about groan of them once and it didn't have much of an impact on me.
Stalkers were just pointless, didn't even attack me first time through...

I dont think the headcrab munches off the zombines head.. I think its head gets blown off when you blast the headcrab off.. And the head stays on if the headcrab doesnt fall off.. Why else would the combines mask still be in the zombine skin?

well the headcrabs actually suck on their victims skull and take over control of the brain thus for the head still is there, sucked out though...

The same reason that citizen clothing is in the Cubbage skin?

New ennemies in EP1? What new ennemies?

Oh, you meant reskinned zombies!

Oh, and I'm sure reskinned Zombies would just pull out a grenade and lunge at you, and also have totally different moving animations :p

A zombine really changes a combat situation, it's similar to dropping a poison headcrab in.

I agree, the zombine is a new enemy...but that's it. No more new stuff really (aside from a tweaked rollermine)....plus the fact that is very..VERY short (even shorter than Valve claimed it to be)....plus the fact that this episode is suppose to represent 1/3 of HL3!!!!

Conclusion: Hl3 (!!!) Episode 1 = disappointment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know what, I'm concerned.

Episodic content allows room for more user feedback in order for the developers to produce work of optimal quality. But I get the sense that most naysayers will do little more than sit around with thumbs up their asses, bitching and moaning, threatening to boycott or steer clear of all future Valve titles, and so on.

If you didn't like something about Episode 1, tell Valve. You actually get some input in the process, and I trust they're smart enough to filter the wheat from the chaff.

Instead of making reskinned enemies for no reason, Valve is putting it's efforts into making truly revolutionary ones, such as the Hunter in ep2.

I am slightly disappointed with the enemies too, but you get what you are given and all good things come to those who wait (want to hit me now or later) but I have to say the zombines are a pretty neat feature, I love the idea of combining the two best enemies of HL2 into one. And the radio crackles and the half zombified moans went right through me, I play with the curtains shut.

Though the stalkers I have to say were a time waster, all they did was deactivate laser bridges and that posed no real obstacle, in fact it only pissed me off. And they took one pot shot at me with their lasers, ONE!! And they missed they were no real threat and just pissed you off and got in the way from time to timr.

Can't wait for the hunters though, they looks so cool and this time they are going to be a real big enemy an improved version of my favourite enemy the striders.

Gotta admit, fighting the old Stalkers was a hoot. And they were balls-out grotesque and terrifying.

But that said, they didn't fit in line with the rest of the Combine humanoids in terms of aesthetic or purpose. In the end, when they were relegated to slave duty, their current appearance and functionality made far more sense, and was more deeply chilling.

zombines are cool i love when they took out he grante
