I'm most excited about it being a sequel to HL1

Well, let's see...

Source
Drivable Vehicles
No more shit posts, hopefully anyway
Manipulator!
Striders!
Combine
GFX
Multiplayer
All the mods
****in around with hammer
The crazy maps where you can play with the physics.
Having the box next to my computer
Having the CD in my drive
Being able to click "Launch Half-life 2 Now" at the end of installation
Alyx ;)

The list goes on...

The fact that there will be something NEW to talk about on the forum.

The game itself and MODS!

Physics definately.
I'm going to spend an hour walking round moving/dropping/shooting things. I would be more excited about the graphics but my card is old so... Maybe when I see the graphics I will get excited but I don't want to get my hopes up. The storyline will come third.

Definitely the physics for me as well. The game looks to great as a whole, but I just love playing games that simulate real-life physics. It just takes the game to a whole other level.

Oh and the MODS too. I can't wait to see what some people are going to do with this engine. Hell, I might even learn some C myself and play around in it.

First up would be the physics and interacting with everything in the environment. Experimenting in every situation possible via physics to take down enemies.

Second most thing I'm excited about is how it'll look on my AIW 9800 Pro :) Not to mention the water effects and fiddling with tossing different objects in to see how they react. I'm a sucker for everything water-related when it comes to games.

Waaaahhhhh... People with 9800 pros just keep rubbing it in!! 10 more days of this. You people should be thankful that you're sitting stroking your good graphics card while im overclocking to push every drop of performance out of my Ti4200. I personally comfort mysely with the fact that it will run on a 32mb TNT2, and a GeForce 4 is MUCH better than that, so it has to be all good stuff!

*confident attitude collapses in a heap* :bounce:

aaaarrrrgggg... You people don't know how lucky you are....

I'm rather worried about how well it'll run on my Radeon 9700. Any idea what will give me the biggest performance boost for the lowest 'cost'? (Disabling FSAA and Anisotropic filtering for starts.)

Yeah I really lucked out...convinced my parents to get it for me a month before my b-day (which is actually today), if I agreed to pay for half of it. My local Comp USA was having a great deal on the card for like only two weeks! An instant saver of $50 which put it at the same retail price as a regular 9800 Pro plus free installation.

Dude I'm sure you'll be fine...just no fancy dx 9 stuff...which in the long run really doesn't matter gameplay-wise. When I was there Gabe said they were currently optimizing for Geforce 2s, so I'm sure you'll run just dandy.

Memory...but if you already have 512 then you'll be fine IMO...in the past several months I added an additional 512 to my default 256...but that was because everything ran like crap on XP...it's such a damn memory hog.

the story and ill be spending a long time just fiddling with that manipulator gun wonder if it will let me pick up a live headcrab and lob it at barney.

The G-Man, I can't wait to see him again. I'm such a big fan. :D

Thanks, I hope your wisdom turns out to be correct. Anyways, im currently using powerstrip to push every drop out of this card. I actually found out my card memory was running at a lower speed than reccomended... I was outraged. Good thing, i've manage to push the mem clock from 445mhz to 600 and the CPU clock from 250 to 280 with no ill effects. I know this shortens the life of the card, but i've got performance profiles saved so I can keep it at default speeds unless i want to play HL2. Sorry for going off-topic and being longwinded, but im just getting into overclocking. Hmmmm, maybe if i bought a fan I could push the card some more ...

*trails off wordlessly*

BTW thanks again spitcodfry

Same here juss gonna mess around for the first 1-2 hours!! Then really play!!

I'm most excited about being able to make a Prince and the New Power Generation mod with the source engine!

I'm looking forward to the graphics. I've never seen a game look so real! It's like an R-Rated Pixar movie done in real time!

I'm mostly looking forward to Half-Life 2 -- The whole damn thing

Seeing what mods arrise from source and seeing what i can do with it.

Definitely the physics, and how it applies to the gameplay. I think that this game will really piss people off in other games as the players ask things like "How come the wood blocking this door won't break" or "Why can't I push this cabinet around to block a door", etc.

The editor, SDK, etc.
I usualy play with editors before playing the actual game
If the SDK doesnt ship with the game, I guess Im looking forward to the WHOLE game, I just wanna play!
