no, not old people :p....

to be considered a oldie (in this thread anyway), the band must have been formed in the 60s or earlier.... me? December 1963 by The Four Seasons

Dude I did not get what are u tryin to say:)

the beatles would have to be top of my list, difficult to choose one song though, so i'll be silly and choose yellow submarine.

led zeppelin are pretty awesome too, i like When The Levee Breaks.

my fave jimmy hendrix song is All Along The Watch Tower..pure class.

Oh I got it now. Thanks:) deda.

Well I DON'T listen to old songs:(

I only listen to RAP and Electronics.

Bobie and the sun shine band. :)
Or was it moon shine. Hmmmmm

i think you've alienated about 90% of the board members by asking about oldies...half of them won't have heard of any of them ;)

The obvious one is the Beatles as mentioned above. As for yellow submarine WTF? Yesterday, Hey Jude, All You Need is Love. Plenty of classic Beatles songs, too numerous to mention.

Thing with Led Zeppelin is that no-one told them that drum solos are sh*te outside of jazz. And their drum solos go on FAR too long. Point in case: I edited Moby Dick - an instrumental with a SUPERB riff down from like 6 minutes to 2/1:30 just by removing most of the drum solo. Whole Lotta Love, an amazing (and incredibly randy) song but spoiled by a pointles drum solo. Silly people.
The Beatles' best song is by far and away NOT Yellow Submarine. Try Revolution, Back in the USSR... there are SO many.
Cream were amazing too, but their lyrics were generally AWFUL. But they were still amazing.
Jimi's amazing. Bob Dylan's amazing.
Old soul stuff - James Brown, Otis Redding, The Temptations, Sam Cooke, Dionne Warwick, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Carla Thomas, Nina Simone - oh baby!
Jazz is also spectacular - Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Art Blakey, Charlie Mingus, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley. Maaan.
<Sighs> Old music's SO great and so much new music is dire, dire boll*cks.
Especially Electronica

 read what i wrote "i'll be silly and choose yellow submarine"...i know it's not their best song, it's just their most infectious song...all together now..."we all live on a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine, a yellow submarine.." someone kill me....NOW

i kinda liked zeppelin's drum solos..gave it a grand feel to each song. i admit most of the time it was done to death, but sometimes it was just spot on.

Sly and the Family Stone - Higher
Stones - Sympathy for the Devil
Beatles - Norwegian Wood
Doors - LA Woman
Hendrix - Purple Haze
America - Horse w/ No Name
Tony Joe White - Polk Salad Anny

I could go on and on ...

I don't know when the Hell some of these bands were formed... I wouldn't want to... *gasp*... name something from the SEVENTIES!

Horse w/ no name and LA Woman are from the 70's.

But to name some from that era:

Stretch - Why did you do it?
10CC - Dreadlock Holiday
Bob Marley - No Woman, No Cry
Aerosmith - Dream On

I can't really think of titles, seeing as a lot of the "old" music was great.
Def Leppard, KISS, Styx, ELO, Fog Hat, Peter Frampton...
Too many to think...
You guys make me feel old. :(

my favorite instrument is the violin :p especially when played fast in classical sounding stuff or slow and dramatic in rock. (see XTC versus Adam Ant - They Might Be Giants, or that fiddle lady from canada, eh?)

I am a drummer, and Bonham is a name by which I call god at times... so sucks to ye who dare squat on his drum solos! lol...

The Doors
Light My Fire, The End, Roadhouse Blues, Riders on the Storm, Hello I Love You, End of The Night

The Who
Squeeze Box, Who Are You?, The Kids Are Alright, Won't Get Fooled Again, Magic Bus, Behind Blue Eyes, Long Live Rock

Jethro Tull
Cross-Eyed Mary, Aqualung, Locomotive Breath

Led Zeppelin
Baby I'm Gonna Leave You, I Can't Quit You Baby, Black Dog, Dazed and Confused, How Many More Times, Rock & Roll, Stairway to Heaven, Immigrant Song, Whole Lotta Love, Moby Dick, Dancing Days, Good Times Bad Times.. I know I missed some but there are so many!!!

The Rolling Stones
Paint it Black, It's only Rock 'N' Roll (But I Like It), (I Can't Get No) Satisfaction, Play With Fire, Brown Sugar, Heart of Stone.. there are more that I can't remember :-P

Jimi Hendrix
Hey Joe, One More Over the Watch Tower, Fire, Crosstown Traffic, Purple Haze, The Wind Cries Mary

Cream
White Room, Sunshine of Your Love, We're Going Wrong, I Feel Free

I'm bored now.. I don't think anyone's going to care about this, but I'll finish the list if anyone would like me to :-P

edit: JESUS! I missed the Beatles! PLEASE DON'T FLAME ME!!!!

well some pple have already named a few good ones like Zepplin and Hendrix :)

hmm.. The mama and the Papas?

FleetwoodMac? lol

not sure if they are from the time frame u wanted.. but hey.. they count as oldies :p

Eeww fleetwood mac. Blahh... I prefer 80's metal over a lot of music, but I love my 60's and 70's, too! Hell, throw in some 30's and 40's here and there. I'm an all around guy. Fleetwood Mac doesn't do it for me :-P

what instrument do you play camon?

I play Clarinet. I have for about 11 years now. I love music and have never once thought that being involved in it was a mistake. I currently own a Buffet R-13 Bb.

DRUMMERS SUCK! :sniper:

The Turtles - So Happy Together...

Imagine me and you
I do
I think about you day and night
It's only right
To think about the girl you love
And hold her tight
So happy together

If I should call you up
Invest a dime
And you say you belong to me
And ease my mind
Imagine how the world could be
So very fine
So Happy Together

*drum snare*

I can't see me loving nobody but you
For all my liiiiiiiiife
When you're with me, baby the skies will be blue
For all my liiiiiiiiife

Me and you
And you and me
No matter how they toss the dice
It had to be
The only one for me is your
And you for me
So happy together

*drum snare*

I can't see me loving nobody but you
For all my liiiiiiiiife
When you're with me, baby the skies will be blue
For all my liiiiiiiiife

Me and you
And your and me
No matter how they toss the dice
It had to be
The only one for me is you
And you for me
So Happy Together

*instruments*

Me and you
And your and me
No matter how they toss the dice
It had to be
The only one for me is you
And you for me
So Happy Together

...and from there on I can't remember shit...
What a shame, I need to get it on CD or something

Yes.. so happy together is a great song. I don't know many people other than myself who knew that it was by the Turtles... good job! Unless of course you had to look it up... then you suck! :D

Definitely any Led Zeppelin or Jimi Hendrix song
but Stairway to heaven is most kickass

Fleetwood Mac - Landslide

Pink Floyd - Bike

Cream - Born Under A Bad Sign

Qaulity.

I'd say most of Pink Floyd's songs :) but I think it was formed in the 70's not in the 60's.
