What books have you read recently?

I remember doing the Handmaids Tale for my A level english exam... i hated it.
It's written in such a boring way, i just couldnt get into it or read it for long periods of time (although the society is well depicted).
The ending is mysterious.. it does leave you guessing.

Lord of the Flies \o/

It's really interesting to evaluate. There's tons of meanings and sybolism. The whole book is just a representation of the fragility of society and the fickle nature of the human beings (as well as the growing fear inside us all), which also can be representated by the tension created by the situation of the cold war. I love great books.

Going Postal - Terry Pratchett.. actually, im half way through.
Just finished up Sourcery the other day, and am probably halfway through the discworld novels by now. Love them more every time. :D
I'm rereading for probably the 9nth time the Hitchhiker's series, and am always amazed at how good Adams is. Still my favorite series of all time. Anyone who likes him must check out Terry Pratchett though, they're like long-lost brothers.

I just read The Da Vinci Code. I imagined Sophie looked like Catherine Zeta Jones in Oceans 12,mmMmmMm. Quite a decent book.

Dune by Frank Herbert
Dune Messiah by Frank Herbert
Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
Armor by John Steakly
The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown
and im reading Angles and Demons by Dan Brown right now.

Oh, what a great book. I've read it about 5 times, and each of the sequels at least once.

1984
Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy
The Resturant At The End of The Universe
To Kill A Mocking Bird

the davinci code and angels and demons by dan brown. da vinci code ws awesome, and angels and demon's is the best book ever made, in my opinion.

Personally I think 'The Stand' is the best Stephen King book, followed by IT, Pet Sematary, and uhm... Green Mile, maybe (of the ones that I have read). DUNE is also a great series but I'm struggling to get through the newer books written by Brian Herbert. They're just not as good as his dad's books.

Anything about electronics that I could get my hands on.
Going Postal, for about the fifth time.
The Hamlyn Book of Monsters.

Ender's Game is awesome. I'm sure I read it around five times back a few years ago. Packed it away somewhere, don't have much time to read lately.

Just finished 'Cities in Flight' - old skool scifi (actually a four book -but small book- collection). Pretty good. Not one of my favs. though

I think I will reread LOTR. Finally seen the extended ver. of all the movies, time to revisit the books.

Yep. They made that decent mini-series of it a while ago, but I always thought they should do a 3 (or whatever) part LOTR-style movie series.

Battle Royale

Now I haven't read a book since GCSE English, but this is a gem. There is a film, but I beg you read the book first.

Think 'Lord of the Flies', but Japanese kids with machine guns and machettes.

Ohhh, I've seen the film. Brutal, and to all Japanese story-line tradition, strange. Might give the book a go mind you.

Hmmmm... not long finished Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix.

Not a big fan of hype, but these books haven't been bad, and are quite an enjoyable read.

I liked Airline just because seemed so full of information, it was like I was learning....

I'm currently reading Bill Bryson's 'A Short History of Nearly Everything', it's ace :D

The last book I read was probably Stephen King's 'Misery'.. or this Zombie Survival guide book..

And I can't get into King's 'Dark Tower' series...
