What difficulty will you start on?

I think I'm going to start on normal. I usually go on easy when I'm doing something new, but it's going to be pretty similar to Half-Life 2 (supposedly), so I'm pretty comfortable with how it's going to go. If I play on easy, I'm worried I won't enjoy it, and if I play on Hard, I'm worried that it will be much harder than Half-Life 2, I'll get annihilated at the beginning, and be all pissed at it.

What difficulty are you guys going to choose?

I'll start Aftermath on hard. Differences have been so slight in a lot of games, including HL2. For example, I can hardly tell the difference between easy, medium, and hard on this game, as well as Doom 3 and some others. Halo, however, has markedly different levels. If you put it on easy, the little guys will run when you come after them, and they don't have grenades. If you put it on hard (Legendary), they won't run even when you kill their leader, they all pack and use grenades, and the Elites do their best (pretty good job, too) of dodging your grenades and ammo. Quake III had decent differences between easy and hard, but I only played that game for warmups.

Normal because Easy is so ridiculously easy on HL1 that I didn't even dare try it on HL2, let alone Aftermath.

isnt that what its supposed to be...

The harder the better, gotta last :D

"That was the greatest five minutes of my life!"
"Ten minutes."
"Five."
"Eight."
"Fine."

hard, the hardest game i have ever played tho is steel battalion, its soo awesome yet so damn hard, and if u miss the eject button all ur progress goes bye bye and u have to start the game over

Hard. Hell even on hard, I thought HL2 was ridiculously easy, Hopefully they've toughened up the enemies a bit in aftermath

yes...but it's VERY easy. There's no challenge at all....for example, No One Lives Forever's Easy mode is actually rather chalenging, albeit much easier than the other difficulties.

hell i'll play on normal...when i beat the game ill go up to hard and do another round

i always start every game on normal. the reason is because i want to experience it the way that it is supposed to be by default first. and also to enjoy it more thouroghly and get a feel for it first. Then I usually play on hard later if i feel like it.

i think the hard setting on half-life 2 was less intense though. because the only thing that's different is that it takes more hits to kill enemies, which sucks because it just gets boring and repetetive and you find yourself counting every shot to the head like "1, 2, 3, 4, dead.. next person... 1, 2, 3, 4, dead, etc, etc." and instead of killing the gunship quickly and moving on to the next part, you have to sit there and shoot it forever.

A good point. You can enjoy it on normal mode, then be able to have the same amount of fun a second time.

If you start it on hard then there's no challenge left once you've finished. Start on normal then go up to hard is what I'd do

What's great about HL2 is the ability to change difficulty between the game. I started on normal, and when looking for a challenge I changed it. It is so fun trying to shoot down the gunships, when they're so desperate and relentless trying to deflect your javelins.

First time I played HL2 was on Normal, but then I loved it so much I beat it 4 more times on Hard. So if Aftermath is just a continuation of HL2, I will be able play it on Hard.

I play all games on normal, but I might make an exception with Aftermath. Hard perhaps.

Probably normal, I started with Easy for HL2 and ran through 3 times on each difficulty but of course it was never really difficult because by the time I got to the hard bits on hard I memorized each enemy position, but I like my games nice and easy and relaxing so we will see :)

I dont know about Doom III and its Hard mode, that was a push over and a half. Half Life 2 on hard was nice because it took a lil more to take them down plus you actually had to use stradegy to fight them. While on normal I could run and blast them all to death.

On hard I have to find cover and what not, which makes the game alot more fun, but when I have to fight mad combine I just lose it and wanna brake my computer.

HARD.

I played Hl2 my first time through on hard and it was still pretty easy.

Easy peasy lemon squeezy, but at some point i'll switch to normal and i'll probably play the last hour on God mode is i'm bored, which i doubt

No thanks
Difficult and Hard are dirty words!
I like to play on ''Don't Hurt Me'' mode
:)
Or Normal at my discretion
sometimes

Hard, only thing remotely changenging, but ill keep my crosshairs on (im actually not joking)

Hard, don't want to sound like some ub3r player but HL2 on Normal was abit easy...

I'm gonna play it Normal again, just to take in all the cool fx without concentrating on survival too much...

hard cause sometimes extra stuff happens when you play on hard mode

Hard. I always play first person shooters on hard. I guess it was conditioned into me when I was always told to play on "Ultra Violence" mode on the original Doom game by my father. Since then, it's always been cranked up to max difficulty.

Normal. I always play on Normal with any new game, and then later, if the game is replayable and I feel up to it, I will go for Hard. I've not attempted HL2 on hard, and nor do I plan on doing so. I've already played through it numerous times, actually trying, and just screwing around so that anymore times I play it the game will lack interest and I will play around in the console making it more interesting. I'm craving for singleplayer games in Source.
