I just bought a Radeon 9800 Pro at best buy and it said that i would get a HL2 Coupon for free but the coupon is nowhere in the Box?

Did the box say it would have an HL2 coupon or did the Best Buy worker say it? They are two different things. Best Buy workers are famous for bullshitting people. Someone at my home forums said someone at Best Buy told the the GeForce 4 Ti is better because it's made of Titanium, and Athlon XP is better because it's optimized for WinXP. :doh:

Anyway, if it says it should have a coupon on the box and there's nothing inside, call Best Buy and ask them where the coupon should be located.

Well the box didnt say that it would come with it..but there was a stand next to it that said "Comes with coupon for HL2" So im guessing i should just call them up and ask? Would be a pain to have to return the card

There was a best buy mail-in rebate for a HL2 voucher on the ATI Radeon 9800 Pro Retail that lasted a week or so.
Not in the box but printed at the register.

Nope. It comes with the 9600SE, 9600 XT, 9800 Pro and 9800 XT

Edit: I could be missing a card there.. not sure, but, that's as much as memory serves for what it comes with

ehm... isn't it actually true that the Athlon XP IS optimized for winXP? I did read somewhere that it was, although it no doubt works just as well with anything else.

as for the gfx-card, you should try and exchange it, like someone mentioned above. Never trust other people, trust only your own eyes. if the box doesn't say that you'll get a coupon, I doubt the salesperson will have slipped a free game coupon into the box himself :/

No, no it isn't optimised. The XP in the athlon and in windows xp mean diffrent things, though i can't remember them right now.
