If you could add some features of other game genres to MMOs of today, what would you add??

I would love to see:
-Quick Time Events
-More Combos and less right clicking to attack
-Less kill and fetch quests
-Less time to level up, because playing with more characters is fun
-$0 subscription fee

I think Quick Time Events would keep you at least interested and on your feel. If you gotta open a Gate and press X like 3 times and then a Boss fight requires you to dodge a strike it would be fun like God of War.

Skill based play rather than time invested.

Zombie apocalypses.

A bullet to the metaphorical head.

And what Solaris said.

They need more hand-on gameplay rather than clicking hud buttons. They also need to stop being pussies with looting and death and make pvp more hardcore, with real danger involved.

Also, they need new genres. Space and Fantasy need to piss off for a few years.

1 - #: To not require copious amounts of time to get to the FUN part of the ****ing games.

In case you havent noticed, to mmo gamers, the grind is the fun.

I'd also add this to MMOs:

-fast travel
-fast shopping
-fast auctions
-fast leveling
-super fast replay value
-building lots of things (imagine how much more fun WoW would be if you had to build your own hut/house and pet house too)
-real prizes for random things (finish a dungeon, /roll then actually win a real car in real life)
-etc

I'm not sure if you're being serious with some of those demands.

POKEMON

Goddamn it Nintendo

the fuck is wrong with you

Also, you know what I'd like in MMOs? The ability to rename your techniques. It's a little thing, and it has the potential for abuse, but it'd be so cool. Even if there was no difference in the attack itself from person to person, it'd really make something feel like it was yours. Everybody's got the same "ice magic," but that guy calls it "winter's fury," that other guy calls it "cold snap," and you call it "chill breath."

To be one HUGE game of battlefield with capturable/destroyable bases and PVP only.

Or just not existing anymore.

What the ****.
I was at my friend's house the other day and he's level 53 and he has flying mounts and can do battle in giant ****ing arenas that play out like a few rounds of BF2/BF1942 and he can go on giant airships and blow shit up.

I was all like "cool stuff bro" and contemplated getting into WoW but then realized it'd probably take me 2 years to get anywhere near that level so then I was all "eff this" and then I ended this run on sentence right here.

Everything from Planetside in a new shinier engine with lots of players.

Or even like that game, Infinity, thats being developed, where its a procedurally generated galaxy and you can explore and colonize.

I'de love a game that's player run and has shit ton of room to explore and colonize and expand.

I just want a new MMOFPS, or a new space based MMO that isn't point and click ships and isn't so tediously boring with plenty of space to explore.

I've been looking for a new MMO to take up my time because I'm so bored of all my other games and nothing else interesting seems to have been released of late.

Yeah Nintendo

I want to play a ****ing Lugia!!!!

lugia%5B1%5D.gif

and yeah, I don't mind the grind too much if they make it more interesting.

gameplay that isnt completely transparent (ie; fetch quests, kill x number of mobs) ..it just ends up feeling like you're doing some mundane repetitive task rather than playing a game

give me a reason to explore. the whole idea behind a mmo is wide open spaces ..well give me a reason to explore these areas

deep story lines that has real outcomes rather than superficial outcomes that only affect you

deeper more intricate role playing mechanics (careers, professions, ongoing avatar customisation, social areas with real activities etc)

ideally I'd like a space exploration game with space and planetary missions (ship + player model) that stress exploration/science fiction rather than mind numbing time sinks meant to maximise their profit

Yea Nintendo should make a decent Pokemon game not one of those crappy DS versions.

Skill based play rather than time invested.

Yep.

Take out levelling too. The only levelling I want in an mmo is me getting more skilled and learning to use items/weapons etc better.

Age of Conan had skilled based gameplay ...however that's not what mmo players want ..so they're changing it to loot/gear based

also the Secret World has no leveling ..I predict it wont do all that well. WoW made grinding for gear/loot mandatory

Do you think an RTS MMO would work?? or a hybrid of that?? Take Warcraft 3/Command and Conquer/Total War but make a Universe out of it. Worlds would be like dungeons, only 1-5 hrs long to take but lets say 100 people would be on a world at a time fighting for control. If they could pull that off in a Star Wars type universe where you can even go down on a FPS scale it would be fun as well.

Nintendo should hire me as a designer. I have the perfect plan to make Pokemon into an MMO with seamless exploration, turn-based combat strategy, and 2D/3D Pokemon combat. It satisfies the turn-based strategy component of classic Pokemon games while adding a fun (your skill determines damage bonuses/evasion success) and functional (i.e. a 100%acc attack hits regardless of skill) Super Smash Bros-style fighting component to the battles.

imo, mmo's need three things:

1. to be free
2. to be original
3. to look good

That'd be cool and all, but where's the reward?

Let's say a faction beats a planet, and gets a new unit to build, or is all-round stronger.

Next planet, the same guy could win, then it snowballs over time.

...Then again, I guess that's how RTS is meant to be.

Oh Jesus.

Blizzard has made leveling a breeze in WoW. Since launch, they have increased XP gains decreased the grind time, and since nearly every zone is populated with quest hubs and likely an instance or two, you will rarely if ever experience a stop. They have created incentive programs that your buddy could invite you in on, increasing your XP gains by 300%. And yeah, there's a few boring areas. But that's only a real problem for alts, and not as significant your first run through. Besides, now they have scaling items you can buy for your alts to soften any blow.

It does require an investment of time, but it's not as long and ridiculous as some people make it out to be. And it's kinder than a lot of its competition.

As far as I what I want in an MMO, I need only say StarCra-

Let me echo what someone said previously in this thread. They absolutely need to make a goddamn Zombie Apocalypse mmo. RIGHT NOW.

(or arpg, something like what Hellgate London should have been only much awesome-r)

then there needs to be a dictator type leadership. in WoW there are pre existing leaders, It would have to have an ultimate human ruler. people would vote them into office and it would be amazing. also if a faction or side is losing, special powers are granted to even out the score. kinda like a Manhattan Project to get an upper hand. you gotta fight dirty to win sometimes

don't try to imitate wow
don't have so many collection quests
don't make an mmo without pokemon **** yea pokemon
don't make an mmo with pokemon that sucks
don't talk about fight club
don't make the exploration aspect boring

If I made a MMO, there would be supreme rulers, and the possibility of character politics, like in EVE. they'd have the best gear and have a say in what is created and destroyed. if you are gunna emulate life, why not go the extra mile, characters have to eat, and crap and i think it would be funny to at least add a bathroom to some space ship or outhouse in the woods. i dunno add some more humor to MMOs, because the only laughs i get is when someone wipes during a raid
