i am expecting to get it in a week or so, what do you guys think of it? will it last long? i need to get a ps2 game that will last me at least a month, because i got no ps2 games to play. i heard from some reviews that its exactly same as vice city, but i dont know who to believe, what do you guys think?

This game is ****in awesome it is so big trust me it will keep u goin for a month.

Rockstar needs to move the franchise over to a PC exclusive release then port it to the gaystation.

It's amazing, but slightly repetitive. It feels COMPLETELY different from vice city, but the annoying PS2 controls are still there. When it comes out on the PC i'm gonna buy it as well, just to show those bastards that i can headshot them if they try and disrespect me, instead of just locking on to a bad guy behind me, getting muddles and ending up in a pool of my own blood, screaming the the "controller is going down with me".

apart from that it's great :D

Wicked game, best PS2 game ever. It will definently last more thena month. I play it every 1-2 days and I'm only half-way-through the second island. About 25% way through. Wicked game.

We'll see if its the best. GT4 is coming out soon I hope.

Yer i h8 the PS2 why did Rockstar change everyone is in it for the money these days.

It's fun, I personally think it's a bit too over-the-top... I don't need to hear my character scream "MOTHER****ING BITCH!" every time I hit another car (which is a LOT).

I think it's great.

I still haven't beaten that freakin' game and I bought it the morning it came out.

Never liked any of the gta games. Very boring to me. I mean Serious Sam was more fun then gta :/

why everibody is so angry whit the fact that was released on PS2 first?
I know that will take a bit long to ome to PS2 but if you could wait for HL2 you can wait for the PC version?

and I think is stupid the people that call gay what it not like

"I dont like playstation, for that is called gaystation" wow the PC fanboy smartness

Because the Playstation 2 is outdated and the graphics are generally shit (especially on GTA, which is a huge game). If it was released on PC first then they could build a super cool looking game and then take a lot of the detail out to make it run okay on the PS2.

Because Rockstar isn't stupid and they know that the core audience is with Playstation and it sells much better on the PS2 than it ever would on a PC. Also, it plays much better on PS2 than it does on PC, having the mouse completely kills any tactical gameplay that it was originally designed with (such as having to crouch behind corners and fire over, too easy to pull of long range headshots on PC version). In addition the PC controls destroy the level up system, which improves accuracy and range over time. And to the guy whining about the controller, you just aren't very good with it, the game controls fine.

But SA is definitely not the best game on PS2. I think that title goes to Metal Gear Solid 3, but SA is still a great game.

This is why many people buy controllers and use a usb adapter. Besides auto aim is the worst thing in existance. This is why FPSs just don't work on the console in my opinion.

The Sony exclusivity contract ends with San Andreas anyway, so unless another is renewed, there's a better chance that the next games will be simultaneous-release.

not all the FPS is consoles hav auto aiming
and some ones that hav autoaiming you can disable the autoaiming off

and I dont care if the PS2 is outdated, games like metal gear solid 3 hav cool graphics even is dont hav hig resolution textures and stuff like that
anyaway that graphics card like ATI X800t and videocards like that will get oudated too so thats mean they will be shit

and dont start to say "are you crazy? X800T blablablabla and consoles suck" cuz is true

yes but you can update a graphics card in your pc, you can't update a ps2.

PS2 games that I recomend

Killzone
is the best FPS on PS2,it got low reviews but believe me, that game is better that the reviews it got,the only bad things is that hav glitchs and bugs but dont affect the game much

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake eatr
is just one of the best games ever, higly recomended
aslo I recomend the prequel, but the storyline of the prequel (metal gear solid 2 : sons of liberty) is after the 3 not before

Devil May Cry
the genre of that game is "stylish crazy action" you are a men-half demon in a mansion infested whit demons
it gameplay is fast and full of action, similiar to ninja gaiden
the sequels is not so good as the first one

that are the best I remenber now

you can buy a new console
and when you update a PC you buy news videocards and stuff

or you can update a videocard of 128 mb to 256mb free throught internet? you hav to buy the videocard

In a word - bored.

I kinda got bored from SA within 2 weeks. It get's old doing missions, driving around, killing people, etc. - etc.

I bought GTA around the time hl2 came out and I still havent completed it get I own hl2 now and can honestly same GTA:SA > Hl2 :D. Its amazing.
It wouldnt work on the pc, its a Third person shooter which works better on the PS2. The one thing about PCs that annoy me is that you get these decent games but then I cant play them so i have to dish out load of cash to buy them, but ps2 games are guarenteed to play and tbh graphics are cool but I really dont care in the end :D. But PCs are better then consoles with FPS and games like the sims, theme park and stuff like that. It can also use the internet and stuff and you can word process. Id say for games consoles win but lack the fun you can have on the internet, yeah sure you can go on the internet with a console but it costs a bomb, however you can play with friends so meh some things are best for one thing and some are best for the other. Which is why I own both a pc and consoles.

At the end of the day, who really loses out?
Anyone? "The PC user"?
Well I don't anyway, and isn't that what really matters? :p

You know, you can upgrade PC's but have you noticed that consoles generally cost about the same as a new graphics card? Let alone the rest of the stuff you need to make the computer go hmmmm -erk hmmmm

I don't have GTA SA, but from what I've seen and heard from my friends it sounds great and the graphics are fine. They may not be groundbreaking, but they're good enough for you to not notice them while you're playing...which is basically what matters.

Maybe to them, but what about to me ;(. Im use to over the top special effects. Are they?

Eh? Change? GTA has been a Playstation game since it was created...

It's always been a Playstation game, but GTA 1/2 were made for PC then ported to PS1. Also, GTA 1/2 sucked and were far inferior to other games at the time such as Driver 1/2. And that comment, "everyone is in it for the money" is pretty obvious. What the hell else would they be in it for? You produce a game primarily to cater to the largest install base. If they did design it for PC then the largest amount of people who play the game, PS2 owners, would get an inferior port.

I could be wrong, but weren't the games before GTA3 actually released on the PC first?

Heh "Everybody is in it for the money these days."

Well yeah...People need money to survive, and if you can get more, all the better. I'm sure they started out to make money as well. Don't fool your self into thinking game developers are making games purely so they can entertain you. They want something back from it.
Edit: Beat me to it :p

no, you're not wrong. They came out on the PC first, but were more sucsessful on the Ps1 i think...

I always prefered those games on the PC. The 3D ones are something of a tie...

Nothing like waking up on a day off(Well not now since I have no days off), whacking on the ole playstation and playing some GTA3. But also, its rather fun to get a lovely trainer/set of cheats once I've completed the game, and mess about.

Could agree more! It would benefit everyone for the games to take advantage of the PC and then be scaled down for those poor old inferior consoles...

If all games where ported from PC to Console and vice versa, everybody would be happy. Sadly that won't happen. PC users go get an emulator (granted the PS2 emulator project is coming along rather slowly) then buy the ps2 games and run them through the emulator.

Console users do whatever the hell you want.

As inferior as they very well might be they are still far far superior in terms of popularity...Rockstar could'nt give a rats ass if the very small PC community wants GTA on PC exclusively because GTA:VC sold 8.5 million in 3 months on PS2 (before it was out on any other platform) and then went on to sell some 13 million accross all systems it was out on...so you could say it sold 2.25 million on PC and 2.25 million on Xbox. Obviously if you've got any logic then Rockstar would laugh at the idea of them making it a PC game.

Edit/ *note* HL1 (possibly the most popular FPS on the planet) sold 8.5million or something in 6 whole years.

Yeah, but it does show developers up who don't choose to make the best game, but rather make the most money. I understand they need to make enough money to make more games, but I don't see why they can't scale their games down for lesser consoles.

GTA:SA is a good game, but I really didn't like the graphics.

How many PS2 owners do you think have PCs? Everyone has a bloody PC - there are more out there than Playstation 2s (of varying specs).

And if they had to produce an engine that was as efficient as say, Half Life 2, to run it then you could exploit the PS2 even more. Ideally there would be a simultaneous release but the PC version would still be so much better if there was more design time focussed towards it. Mouse and keys is the way to go for me personally, so much better than the dirty dirty joypad.

Good reasons:
  • Can play mp3s
  • potential for mods
  • potential for expanded gameplay
  • online functions
  • significantly greater and broader audience
