What do you guys think of this?

Don't give a ****, really, does it matter? Twins that are genetically identical have been happening naturally for centuries. It's more that the technology to do so exists rather than the fact that it will become widespread.

I think it's a necessary development for the advancement of biotechnology.

On moral grounds, noone's getting hurt, why should it be wrong?

Kirovman , how can be so flippant?!!
Dont you know that life has been proven to begin 0.003 seconds before the egg meets the sperm?!!

I got into a big debate over this type of thing- cloning and the like- with my mom. She said "you know, the problem is that we're playing god." I said "so?" I guess I just couldn't care less about it. We're humans. We're curious. It's inevitable that we'll end up playing god in a billion different ways.

Wow, there's so many great points so far.

I don't see a problem with cloning. And it's so expensive right now that no one will take advantage of it.

Yup, "we're playing god" is usually just an excuse for no better arguements against it except for a dislike of it.

We started "playing god" when we first discovered how to make fire, so the playing god arguement doesn't really come into it, as long as we don't let things go out of control (eg let the fire become a forest fire) - all the necessary precautions should be taken, while not leaping gung ho into the unknown.

For example with cloning, you probably don't want the clone getting their dna mixed with the regular population's dna, just in case there are some dna defects caused in the cloning process.

Although I know nothing about the in detail biology of cloning, I'm sure the experts have considered all of the factors.

even though im arigth wing nut....

cloning a full human being, or at least pefrecting it with animals first, is a step towards being able to clone seperate body parts. i think we are going into the human filed a little early here, we still have problems with making goats and sheep. we need to make tsure the damn things grow up healthy before we start making replacement organs and what not.

i also think under no circumstances we shoudl be able to make a fully-minded clone. u can suck the brains out of the featus and let the body grow, but never, ever let the poor thing come out about to quotes shakespeare

people moan about abortions, then they moan about this..

and ill tell you, the majority that moan are religious....
get a life id say to them.

i think this is a good idea. :D

Completely for it. Begun, the Clone War has.

*Slaps self*

Need to get feckin' Star Wars out of my system.

In terms of medical research and cure - 100% behind it. If it can cure some of the greater diseases our species faces, then so much the better.
As for the possibility of "designer babies"? That's frightening. Parents really shouldn't be given that right, because then essentially what you're going towards is eugenics...

where does the clon gets its soul from?
i'm all for scientific progress, but i doen't know about cloning, just doesn't seem right
