Hey all, I'm new to the forums so i thought i would start by seeing what people think of the weapons in the game.

I voted for: They're ace... for the zero point energy gun alone. :)

Could be better. It's a little strange that the handguns are the most accurate weapons (apart from the crossbow).

why is that strange? surely that mirrors real life?

Really good, great feeling in all of them. Could be more weapons tho!

Moderate.
Besides the energy gun the ammo for them is small and the weapons themselves aren't that special compared to Half Life.

Yeah man for real. In the first one u got 36 rounds for the revolver. Now only 12? WTF is that

I was actually pretty disappointed in the selection of weapons. HL1 had several very creative and different weapons, particularly the anti-camping guass gun. HL2's grav gun was awesome of course, but aside from the pulse rifle's secondary fire, nothing was too creative, and your selection of weapons felt very, very slim. I do like the limited ammo, however. Made you be more tactical, and have to scrounge for weapons.

Not very impressive. The only gun i thought "this is cool" was the manipulator...i have'nt got all the weapons yet (well i hope i have'nt). Latest one i got is the rocket launcher.

It's missing a gunsight view (ala OPF), and a rifle should be more accurate than a pistol. Grav gun is fun though...

Waiting for a mod to get the CS weapons in single play...

I much prefered HL1 weapons. The gauss and egon guns, all the different types of explosives (grenades in HL2 fly way too far, I never used them, too unpredictable) and just the general feel of all of the weapons - the machine guns in HL2 seem to be really innaccurate compared to HL1 (I finished it about 3 days before HL2 came out).

I think the clip on the combine gun reduces its real usefulness - should have been about 40-50 I feel, kept having to reload it all the time. The 2nd fire was too weird to really use effectively. In generall all of the weapons had too little ammo capacity - Magnum should have had 18 at least, and the shotgun needed more like 40-50. Wish the shotgun had 8 shells again instead of 6 - it does make a big difference.

Although the rocket launcher in HL2 was a great improvement over the one in Hl1, even if it is a bit rediculous - although I will miss not being able to disable the laser in DM, that was one of my signature moves (jump out of nowhere, fire a rocket and disappear while it's still travelling).

The weapon selection was a bit of a disappointment - the satchel charges and tripmines were much missed and they could have done with another anti-armour weapon besides the RPG. (those striders would really fear me if I could just get my hands on a Gauss gun. rum rum rum rumrumrumrmrmrmrmrm shakaboom! :D)

On the up side, the Magnum, Shotgun and Combine rifle all feel really satisfying, the RPG is lots of fun and the Gravity Gun almost makes up for the lack of variety.

yeh, i liked all the guns they DID include, but they couldve included more, like egon and gauss gun. Also, ammo was VERY limited. and the accuracy on the rifles was horrible. HORRIBLE.

and those people that think more accurate pistols is like real life need to get their shit sorted - pistols are, in general, the least accurate, especially over a longer distance
