From what you've seen and what you've heard, what do you think the gore factor will be for Half-Life 2, if any?

What do you mean by "gore factor"? The gore does seem quite excessive, but perhaps not on the level of SOF2! Oh and by the way, if HL2 is rated "mature" in the States....does this mean it will be a BBFC 18 certificate in the UK?

I think there'll be alot in the Ravenholm levels, mainly because of the whole "slicing zombies in half" kind of thing.

Properly gory. Not toned down, not over the top.
All things being relative, relative to other games I gave it an 8.

i voted a 7. the blood sprays look more real.

I think it will be VERY gory, but not on the lines of SoF.

Well...

9 is for SOF

7 is for Doom 3

6 for HL2

4 for Far cry

No game can ever be "teh goriest" ;D which is to say 10/10.

I give it an 8. From I can see, it looks delightfully gory :D

I voted 4.. Cause it's not so.. "realistic" as Soldier of Fortune.. :(

I voted 8, (8.5 would be more accurate) especauilly considering some of the recent screenshots. Remeber seeing the severd body hanging from a tree in E3 2004?

Framkly, I thought doom3 gore was very arcadey, and rates a 7.0

Ya around an 8. It doesn't look like it will be over the top though which is good.

its gory enough, without being over the top. i hate shooting a zombie in doom 3 and seeing their bones and organs appear. one of the dumbest things in that game.

I tihnk it will b a big differation where you play
With zombies, fast zombies or torture chambers: 8-9
With antlions: 6-7
Otherwise: 5-7

i voted 8, i think 7-8, depending on hardness (diff amount of enemies = diff amounts of total blood)

As in Doom 3, it appears the most gory scenes will be left for us to find, rather than for us to create ourselves. In other words, while there will be some big blood sprays and body decals, it won't be much compared to the already-mutilated bodies we'll run across along the way.

Also, the gore looks just right, and fits well with the style from HL1. We won't be blowing limbs off with shotguns and such, but the body wounds look great, and are perhaps even more effective (because in SoF and SoF2, the limbs/bodies disappear rather quickly as soon as you turn around, and in HL2 I'm sure you have the option of making them stay).

I rated the game an 8, judging by recent shots and assuming the worst is yet to come.

Yes it is just right.

I'd give it a 7. It looks like it suits the game quite well. Its not over the top or anything but it gets the job done.

6... Pretty gory game, at least in the Ravenholm area.

While not the bloodiest and goriest game known to man, I imagine, we already know that dismemberment and very realistic bloodsprays are in the game, I'm gonna give it a 9 out of 10 for that.

I mean, I can't really think of what gets you much higher than dismemberment.

Voted 7. The game is rated M anyways, so the gore factor shouldn't be a big deal.

By the way, Robert, your avatar makes baby Jesus cry.

Soldier of Fortune & Carmageddon come pretty close.

I really liked the gore in the original half-life - it was the first game where blood stained the walls properly (duke nukem's blood stains looked pretty crap...)

Somebody will mod HL2 to be :

10-The goriest and bloodiest game ver created by man

oh yeah, carmageddon was bloody(and funny) as ...(insert something very funny and bloody here).

voted 5, as blood isnt the same as blood(same to limbs).

i give it around 7-8 on gore level

there are blood and dont we see bodys being chopped off?

is gore like blood or something.. ??

Yes.

Gore-Blood, especially coagulated blood from a wound.
blood that has come from an injury and become thick:
- It's a good film, but there's a lot of blood and gore in it (= pictures of people being badly injured).

8, theres blood everywhere, the walls, the floor, the ceiling...
but none on the crowbar...

No, it was Clinton's vice president. Put that in your lockbox and smoke it.
haha, nice one

7. Very bloody at times but not exaggerated. Zombies can be gibbed..

I have a feeling that these people rating the game 6 or lower:

A) Haven't seen the Binks and recent screenshots

B) Don't understand the scale on which they're voting

C) Are just voting low to make others wonder who did

Now, almost every person on the forum will agree that SoF2 is the most gory 3d game to date, so we can safely assume that the game falls under 10 on the scale (note that he didn't say the goriest game possible, he said the goriest game to date).

HL2 also has far more gore than your average game, which would rank at about 5 or so. Therefore I'm shocked to see a fair number of people actually voting for 4-5 on the scale. Can anyone who voted 2-4 explain what exactly they were thinking?

I gave it a 7. You guys forgot to mention manhunt which i thought was quite a gory game.
