What does your family think about gaming?

My Dad didn't like me wasting my time playing on the computer when I was younger. But now, my Dad has gotten into gaming himself, especially with playing Rome: Total War (He also has an Xbox, which he doesn't use anymore). Ironically, he spends more time on Games then I do at the moment.

My sister loves games such as Theme Hospital, The sims and Rollercoaster Tycoon. Shes also played games such as Halo, but she's not much of a FPS fan.

My mum doesn't play game, but I believe she gets fed up all the time when my Dad tells her how many times he snatched victory from almost the jaws of defeat in R:TW

Sooo Death...umm..can I have your dad for lets say...the rest of my life?

My mum doesn't mind me playing games, she just sees it as another form of entertainment. She did like Banjo Kazooie though (who doesn't? Who, I ask you! Who!?)

My Dad always expresses interest in the technology and says something like 'Wow, we've come a long way.' everytime he sees me playing HL2.

My older brother is an avid gamer, as is my little brother. Granted, we all have different tastes in games.

My Dad, like me, only truly enjoys PC video games but he is such an id Fanboy. He's bought Wolf3d, Doom, Doom2, Doom3, Quake, Quake2, Quake3 & Doom3: RoE. But when he tried Half-Life2 he said "this makes no sense to the original Half Life. That sucked too, except for the gameplay which they copied off Q2!". When he tried UT2004 he said "these DM maps are too newbie friendly & the weapons suck!" Thusly, he still enjoys Doom\Quake\Wolfenstein.

My Mom says it "influences you to buy a gun & shoot people, NO MORE OF THEM!!". But ofcourse, she always lets me buy more.

My sister is an Xbox freak, so she understands. She's pretty horrible at most PC games but is pretty good at Halo2 & such. I'm opposite.

My husband and I both play alot. He's more into sports management games *snore* and RTS. I like FPS and roleplaying. I'm still playing Morrowind on and off. He bought an Xbox this summer and we have spent hours playing Halo and Halo2 together and laughing hysterically at each other.

I havn't played in a long time, exept Rome , latly game don't seem to catch my attention. When ever my dad is mad at me, he allways bothers me that I play to much " boom boom " and blames it for evrithing, but he thinks that moding is quite a good hoby. My mum dosn't care to much.

My parents both play video games. My dad loves pinball more than video games, but he plays a lot of puzzle games (flash games like Bejewled). He'll stay up for hours upon hours playing those games. He once stayed up 24 hours playing Arkanoid.

My mom, in a word, is awesome. She knows almost all the classics from Zelda to Castlevania, she's an ace at gun games, and she's better than even I am at Tekken. She'll buffer into command moves and string out ten-hitters with Nina like it was the easiest thing (and trash-talk while doing so). And she keeps up with recent games like Devil May Cry 3 and of course HL2. I remember being floored once while I was playing and she said, "Hey isn't that the G-man over there?"

Lol thats pretty funny.

both my parents have never played a videogame in their lives and I used to get a lot of grief about playing games too much from my mum when i was growing up! but as i got older it lessened a bit..

My dad was the one that got me into FPS games in the first place....Hell when I was little we would always play quake or doom on mulitplayer.

Oh the good'ole days...

sometimes when my sister or mother come into my room to tell me something or get something etc,i try to draw their attention to the screen with hl2 or a impressive game running but they just stare blankly at it,people with limited exposure to games dont understand why we get excited about amazing physics etc, bump maps, great animation, realistic water etc

My dad is the only one who doesn't really like me playing video games. He doesn't really understand the point of violent games. It really pisses me off to see how squeamish he is whenever he's like "look at that blood how can you play this it's desensitizing you". Seriously they're just pixels! And what's really the problem with being desensetized to blood it would allow you to perform better in a situation where someone's injured and needs help. I mean doctors and surgeons are used to seeing people that are bloody and no one preaches about them being desensetized.

Anyway, my mom used to be against games too. Then she started watching me play and became somewhat interested and asked me some questions about the games I was playing (I think I was playing some MMORPG at the time) and she saw that there was actually a point to the game and not just a mindless activity like watching TV.

My parents, or my mom thinks its waste of time and that im obsessed about computer games, But im not. Im glad she doesnt care if its a game where your goal is to punch brains or a racing game. ;D

i used to play FAR too much for their liking...My Dad plays some games (shooting - no tactics...all out rambo if possible :D) My mom plays some games too but more games that drive her demented and i dont have patience for and my younger sis really likes the Prince of Persia games...

What a wierd household.

My dad couldn't care less. He even plays, himself. My mom thinks it's a terrible scourge and it must be stopped. Then again, she is a Democrat...
