What happened to the 'greatest year ever in FPS'?

Well it was suppossed to be the best damn year ever for us FPS fans.

We were going to get D3,HL2, not to mention Far Cry which seems to have also slipped as well (at least thats what the Gamestop computer says).

There is Deus Ex 2, but to me it's not nearly as impressive looking as any of the one's I've mentioned (played it at E3), and Max Payne 2 which isn't even a FPS.

If HL2 doesn't ship this year, Call of Duty might be as good as it gets. Lets hope not.

agreed, Call of Duty; probly the last great game using the Quake3 engine (not counting expansions). Im also looking forward to Hidden & Dangerous 2. Ive been waiting 3 yrs for that damn game.

Maybe for MP, but Halo doesn't really impress me anymore. It was cool on Xbox, but I don't see it as nex-gen like HL2, D3, and Far Cry.

Yeah and Reloaded on DVD on October 14th. The movies will be cool, especially since their both the 3rd and final films of their respective trilogies. Should be good stuff.

I'm sure they'll be alot of cool MP2 Matrix mods late this year / early next year too. Max Payne mods are always fun (Kung Fu 3.0 anyone?)

By now, I wouldn't be surprised that 3dRealms is converting DNF over to the Half-Life 2 engine. Your PC game becomes obsolete when you hold out for so many years.

Halo is old is not great anymore (if it ever was).

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is 2004 I think.

Good post. Info looks correct... but I still believe that HL2 will make it out before January of next year.

It still is the greatest year if Deus Ex IW and Half-Life 2 still come out this year.

Far Cry and STALKER are questionable they look nice but will the games be good... You know...
