I'll get the ball rolling -

Given me super-fast reflexes (thanks to AG and Op4)

Given me an interest in conspiracy theories (Deus Ex 1 & 2)

Given me a keen interest in design n architechture (HL's Hammer and HL2's too :D )

Given me an interest in the Knights Templar (Deus Ex 1 n 2 again)

I'll think of more soon - what have games given you? :D

These forums. :)

Also I swear to god I am more observant..

Its also interesting to see how other people play games.

dang, when I saw the title, I was gonna post everything you did :P

anyways, they got me interested in a whole bunch of things...
mapping
modeling
coding
ect...

They've turned me into an elite killing machine.

They gave me reflexes like no other (FPS)
They gave me an expanded imagination (Almost all games)
They gave me fun (Almost all games)
They gave me a career choice (though, highly doubtful) [HL, Unreal, Doom]

Learn tons of facts about battles across many wars.

Not from the gameplay or game either ;p. The game just gets me wondering about it and then I actually look it up. Obviously Stalingrad wasn't fought near one small trainstation between 60 men. Hehe

They gave me something too look forward too, something to do.

turned me into an isolated loser who stayed home all the time and had very few friends

That's all different now but, it once was true.

Games have also given me a chance to play against badger in DM. :E (HL2DM and OP4)

In all honestly, quick reflexes and less friends.

edit

*hears old mates standing outside a bus stop smashing up a phone box.

I'm alright thanks :smoking:

Yes, I'd have to say bastard-quick reflexes too. Oh yeah, and vision akin to a mole.

Omph! My vision is terrible. I need laser surgery if I plan to join the military. :|
One more thing games have given me:
They increased my typing ability. I type very well now and I also expanded my English dictionary/grammar thanks to the internet.

Could you really take that needle to the eye?

That's another thing, typing and English has improved alot. I never, ever went to English lesson, god knows how bad my English would be without the net :p

Games got me interested in programming and the whole thingamajig. Of course they've kept me entertained as well, and I'd probably never have started posting on forums if it wasn't for games.

Good:
Better reflexes and hand eye coordination.
Taught me TEAMwork! (CS:S, UT2K4, BF1942)
Help to expand my imagination.

Bad:
Uh... nothing really. I'm a responsible person who can still maintain his social life and games. :cheese: I guess they have gotten me a bit unhealthy though, but just a little.

A future, without gaming i'd dunno what I wanted to be, I can't think anything cooler then working in the gamedev bizz

Hmm I'd probably say helped me stay away from too much alcohole. Two of the people I used to hang out with a few years back are now alcoholics you could say, one has had a heartattack from drinking too much, the other one drinks so much his schoolwork suffers and everyone thinks he's an asshole. So yeah, My thanks to the gaming industry!

would have to agree, cs has increased my reflexes tactiacal awarenss and observation

i find when im walking thru dodgy areas late at night im looking for choke points to avoid areas with many exits and general looking out for Chav activity

let's see.

I learned to touch type playing text MUDs when I was younger.

I learned geography and crazy amounts of WWII history from HOI2.

I can navigate a virtual world (you'd be surprised how many people have trouble just moving around in a fps)

I learned how to map back from Quake1.

If I ever join an elite terrorist or counter-terrorist organization I will have thousands of hours of practice time, especially if I end up in a dusty middle-east city, a trainyard, or a generic officebuilding.

Games have trained me to kill...
*puts on Sam Fisher night vision goggles*
No seriously though atleast games keep me away from TV. :P

I see it's also instilled a little healthy paranoia...

Lower grades.

:|

edit: no wait, it's just the harder classes...nevermind.

Games have done nothing but screw up my schoolwork. But they sure are fun!

Edit:Well, I guess Dynasty Warriors did quite peak my intrest in the Three Kingdoms period. So yeah. But that's it.

Games and real research have made me a weapons expert, especially in WWII weapons. I know how to load, fire, and strip an M16 and Ive never even held one in real life. Several years of playing CS, both Battlefield games, both Half-Lifes, CoD, and Americas Army has taught me how to always aim for the chest/head, how to move around better, to look for any escape route in real life places, and has taught me more history than any class at school. I also know the stats of most any popular gun (M16A1/2, M4A1, Ak47/74, various other rifles/shotguns, handguns (Desert Eagle, .357 Magnum (my dad has a real one that ive fired many times) etc.

I have super reflexes. I am known at school for being the guy who can't be touch by anybody. I think that's why I don't have a gf :(

I learned some strategy, forward thinking and planning. and pure enjoyment.

An eye for noticing small things.

Quick thinking.

Faster reflexes.

Everwhere I go I look for ways to escape incase I need to, I know a shat load about guns, and I have shot tons of my favorites, and HL2 made me want to read Fahrenheit 451 (a great book).

give me a bloddy sense of things..... i mean, a good lil boy!

One great asset gaming gives anybody, myself included, is the fact to play & learn from other players as well as "meet" other people interested in the same hobby you're in.

I know my hand-eye coordination has improved since I started playing FPSs. HL2 got me writing, something I've always wanted to do, but never really found the right inspiration. Gonna finally start my novel after I finish my fanfic!
