what if hl2 sucks? like painkiller? its good graphics, its fun for the first 2 hours, then its boring, what if this happens? if it does, im never going to trust valve again, and when i say never, i mean it, i hope it doesnt become gay like painkiller

the guns were original.. the secondary weapon fire was as powerful as the primary
the characters were original

if anything half life 2 might feel stale cause or just like half life one which 6 years later may feel played or date

theres always a possbility of suckage. but in painkiller movies i didn't see really cool interaction with characters, cool sequences, good dialogue, a manipulator, etc. i just saw a guy blowing enemies up. which is exactly what the game was like.

Well if it sucks, it will be like every other crappy game I've ever played. I will install it, play it, realise it sucks, and next time I need to free up space on my HDD, it will be the first thing to go. No great loss. There's lots of shitty games out there.

I don't think there is any possible way the game could just outright suck and be awful. I think the game could be mediocre if the gameplay just ends up being terrible like in a doom 3 kind of way which I really don't see happening if the videos say anything. We have seen virtually every aspect of the game and it all seems incredible the only question is how is the gameplay, it just needs to be fun to play.

All game companies make games for money. That's their business. Your mechanic doesn't fix your car for the love of the job, your accountant doesn't crunch numbers for the sheer joy of it, and the guy who served you your burger at McDonalds wasn't there because he just loves serving soggy old beef sandwiches to ungrateful teenagers. People do their jobs for money, game developers are exactly the same.

Most of them do it for the money. Some care more about the game than the money, valve I think is one of the passionate ones. If valve didn't care, they wouldn't have gutted a whole years worth of work on half-life, they would have listened to John Carmack's rule about releasing something fast to make money so the company can survive. I think they really care about what they do.

well, i also think hl2 will be great, at least 9/10,. but i am giving it a possiblity, what if it sucks? same happened to doom3 dont u know

well, doom 3 didnt suck, it wasnt as good as people expected. however, we also didnt see as much of doom 3 as we did hl2. i can see from the binks, that playing those levels, will be more satisfying than anything ive physically played so far.

It's gonna be like hl1 if anything. Same style, different experience. probably new explanations, new more modern scientific theories being put to use, new everything. They managed to convince us we were in a research facility for the first one, I think hl2 will do the same with city 17. Its just gonna be a brand new fresh experience. on top of that we will have physics and graphics and everything else.
