As kitfox said, Project Revolution a modification to Wc3. It has not been shut down. Why? Because it stays in the oringal Sc universe(no expanding on it), and it's for a Blizzard game.Mod support.....
*Cough*Starcraft 3d*Cough*.
We'd have it if they didn't stop it.
Other ones such as the one for the C&C Generals mod got shut down..because it expanded the sc story and because it wasn't for a blizzard game.
Anyway, Blizzard has stop some Sc mapping\modding efforts. You see, with Starcraft a while back we invented "EUD". Enhanced Unit Deaths. Basically we could set certain deaths and player names to such high values that it would change a value in memory. A value in memory, so we could change any value in starcraft memory. This is without a mod and all map controlled. The only risk was that it may have been possible(never done though) to change over values for other programs.
Anyway, Blizzard patched this up and then a fix came for that and people who used it were temp. banned. Overall, EUD's allowed us to edit anything we want DYNAMICALLY in starcraft memory at any time during the game. Being able to do this dynamically makes it better than modding. Want to give every unit cloak?, every unit lockdown?, give a marine loading abilites?, etc... it was all possible and we could even change a marine from having lockdown one second to lockdown and cloak and then a second later give him the nuke and a second later make his image turn into a Carrier but all the attacks stay the same and armor etc..
What we could have done was amazing with these triggers. Infact, it was the greatest find in Starcraft History. To bad Blizzard ****ed it all up. Oh well .
