what is a spam attack?!!? what the hell is wrong with the forums?!

There are people/bots posting spoilers like crazy. Most of the forums are on lockdown right now.
 
Nasty people did it. Simple as that. No one had control over their indivual accounts. So dont blame anyone. Ok?
 
Some ****ing assholes posting spoilers. I even saw that Comrade Badger posted spoilers.....might be an imposter but idk...

This is kinda like a prison riot or something. I can just see the admins running along the catwalks with shotguns, locking down forums as they spin out of control. Cool.

Is it not clear to people that this is an attack, and those spoilers were being posted by bots?
 
so this thing/bot hijacks accounts and uses them to post prescripted spoilers about the game?

how does anyone have the game, from which to get spoilers?!?

The spoilers are from the HL2 script that leaked with the CS:S beta. They're real.

I didn't see it because I just got online about 2 minutes ago, but in the past people would post links to scripts that would automatically use the cookies in your browser to post threads containing spoilers. Although this seems bigger than it was before so it may be something else.
 
I fail to see why they even bother doing this and what the hell makes them feel satisfaction/pleasure from it. :|

Yeah, for some reason this attack got huge really fast. Ahh, the joys of HL2 fandom, so fraught with drama!
 
I feel so sorry for the Mods/Admins that have to sort it out, and read them. :(

I don't think they get pleasure from spoiling per se. I think they just like hacking and trying to screw up a very popular site. Which they succeeded in doing, half the site is locked.

Accounts are being hijacked thanks to a script that steals your cookie information, so banning won't fix anything.
