pci is a bus which means there are a number of devices that share that bus, time, and bandwidth.
also pci runs at 33MHz.

agp is a dedicated video port that runs at 66MHz.
plus, it runs at 2x, 4x, or 8x speeds.

pci is a universal slot for just about any thing.
usually only the basic video card models are also available for pci.

pci slots are white while the agp slot is the smaller brown slot that is above the pci slots.

pci express is completely different. if thats what you were refering to then just say so and i could give you some links.

some advice:

if your computer has no agp slot, and no pci-express slots, i suggest getting a new motherboard. regular pci is teh suck.

I agree, based on the fact that you are posting on the H2 board means you will want to play it!, that means that if you have a PCI video card, you need to rectify that situation ASAP! Currently AGP 8x is the way to go, think- ATI 9800pro or x800 if you really want to step up!, one more thing - DO NOT CONCERN YOURSELF W PCI-Express, at least for right now. The only exception to that would be if you are building a complete new rig that would be lasting 2yrs or more, and have $3k+ to spend...

Yup, 4X will work fine, and if you get something like a 9800 pro or something you won't notice the difference between 8x and 4x. But can the new cards run on 4x?

New cards will run on 4X, hell they'll even do 2X just fine, it's just the slower you clock down that AGP bus the more your card is going to sit idle waiting for instructions from your CPU..
