What is Race-x

Thats why HL3 is going to feature an all out invasion of Race-X!

u know...that would catch everyone off guard :E
i mean Race-X not even being part of the original and then having a small role in OP4 and Marc Laidlaw commenting about Race-X not being a major part of the HL universe and all.

thinking back to that chapter in Half Life2 where
Gordan is captured and Breen is saying something about the highest bidder...hehe it would be so simple to re-introduce Race-X with this "highest bidder" idea ;)

anyway, Aftermath will clear up something..well hopefully.. u never know with Valve :)

Race X is just one of the random "species", that gets pulled over from the boarder world "Xen". That way you can justify Gearbox's crap ass game.

Could they be the Xen Resistance movement? And then got pulled over through the portal, unwillingly?

http://www.planethalflife.com/opfor/guide/enemies.shtm <- pictures of the Op4 enemies. There's only 4 according to that (Zombie doesn't count).

Where Race X "starts and ends" is another matter, ignoring what the PHL page says. The shock troopers appear to be an invasion race, but the Pit Drones and Voltigores come across as little more than wildlife that has come through for the ride: partiularly the Voltigores which start to nest under the facility. Also, how do the Pit Worm and Gene Worm fall into it all? The later shares it's head shape with the tentacle... what does that mean? That the final boss of Op4 is really a Xen alien, not a Race X alien?

I think the bottom line is that Gearbox's additions shouldn't be thought of to hard. Ultimately, Race X was just an excuse to get more enemies into the game, and Gearbox didn't really want to waste time explaining them (and too much explanation would doubtless conflict with later HL developments)

The shock troopers are invasion, voltigores and drones are trained wildlife and the gene-worm is a living factory. All confirmed by the statigy guide.
