What is the obssesion with this image?

Tom Clancy doesn't like Che very much, judging from Pandora Tomorrow.

Personally, I don't know or care enough about him to have his face on my shirt.

Che had a heart like no other. i have immense repsect for the man, although sometimes his methods left much to be desired. you can learn a great deal from him.

Che was a sickening murderer.

He was Castro's right hand man and co conspirator during the Cuban communist take over. He handled the executions of dissidents during his tenure with the Cuban government. He was well known to have personally pulled the trigger and killed many of the men who died while he was in charge.

I simply cannot understand how people can wear the shirts and like the image. It's like jumping gleefully around with Hitler emblazoned on your T-Shirt.

The reason I and many other respect him cause he wasn't a cold hearted bastard, but someone who truly believed in what he fought for
Whoa there buddy. This couldn't be further from the truth. Che oversaw and directed some of the earliest Cuban dissident executions.

In 1959, Che Guevara was appointed commander of the La Cabana Fortress prison. During his term as commander of the fortress from 1959–1963, he oversaw the executions of hundreds of political prisoners and regime opponents (estimates range from 500 to 1700). Many individuals imprisoned at La Cabana, such as poet and human rights activist Armando Valladares, allege that Guevara took particular and personal interest in the interrogation, torture, and execution of some prisoners.

Such as what? The best angle to put the pistol at the back of someone's head as to not get splattered by the blood?

The problem is that many teenagers don't know who he is but they wear his face on thier shirts because the media tell them that it is cool... Sad really

Yes.

There was a kid in one of my classes who wore a Che shirt. I actually publically brought him out for it. Asked him "Do you even know who's on your shirt? It's not 'funny' at all and it's actually pretty offensive."

He didn't even know who it was, he just said it "looked neat."

He hasn't worn it since after I told him who it was and explained his crimes.

i know vague details about him, but i never wear anything with him on it, so it's ok.

I hope to god you're kidding.

It's Che Guevara, a marxist revolutionary from the sixties. He's sort of the poster boy for rising against the oppressors for the people.

Go see "The Motorcycle Diaries"
I adore that film. It's on DVD in february and I can hardly contain my lust. Oh yes.

I don't entirely agree with his ideology but I respect him as a person for sacrificing things for what he stood for, he had a great deal of integrity. For that, if nothing else,
I wore my Che t-shirt to school once, I got asked if it was my boyfriend (well done, you called me a homosexual, I see what you did there, it was clever); Hitler (What. The. F*ck.); someone asked if it was Castro and I could've hugged him for guessing as close as he did.

EDIT: He was captured by the Bolivian Army and ordered to be executed by Bolivian President René Barrientos
No he wasn't. Actually the guy who was assigned to execute him went in there and decided he couldn't do it, because although he didn't like him, he respected him. So they got someone else to do it who happened to be hugely anti-Communist and a disgusting sadist. Che was shot a few times in the limbs before being killed.

Everyone praises him for leading a revolution, but that revolution is why Fidel Castro is in power today.
You could do a lot worse than Fidel. A lot worse. It's not as if Batista was all sweetness and light.
