Oh my god...seriously this cannot be it...what happened to the amazing graphics and physics......The first level is awesome before you get weapons...but after that they concentrate more on Wave attacks...infact its all run in blast the brown goo out of everything standing in your way...

The level design is poor aswell i was hoping the the 15 chapters shown on the new game bar were like prologue chapters....and werent the real half life 2 but nooo....i completed the game in about 6 hours...and now i feel like crying at the sheer average-ness of this game....the original kicks its arse.

What happened to the Aliens?! it was based more on shooting head crabs and humans then some rather grotesque looking alien...infact ...Where were the rather grotesque aliens!!!!!!

IS this valves way of saying...We're not releasing the REAL half life 2 for another year because of complications so were just gonna give you a half made poorly designed FAKE half life 2 while you wait! PLEASE GOD I HOPE IT IS!!!!!!!!

I don't believe half the people here who are actually happy with this game...

This game reminded me of halo...And halo is possibly the worst fps i have ever played... the game starts off good...but goes downhill rapidly... until the very end when it recovers ever so slightly from the damage done between the beginning and end
 
But no multiplayer, game with no multiplayer is no game!
They could not allow to delay it for more couple of month or smth, because seems like year was not big problem!
 
i think someone else has already summed up exactly what i'm trying to say...This game...belongs in an arcade...the whole thing not just the chopper with 100000 bombs...the whole game was an arcade game! All the people who say its amazing open your god damn eyes!!!!!!!!!!!
And yes no multiplayer whats going on there...And why the hell were there alien chefs in the black mesa facility!!!!! WHY...WHY??!!!! honestly were valve completely stoned when they made this!

Your response is completely, utterly and irrevocably predictable. People have been guessing there will be people posting like that second day after release, and those predictions were made a ONE YEAR AGO.

Everybody is entitled to an opinion, of course... I think you were too overhyped.

the maps are awesome. Raven horn is my favourite soo far, and i just beat ravenhorn. Maybe its jsut because i have the gravity gun now lol

The fact that this game...lacks anything inventive makes my comments completely, utterly and irrevocably Correct in every possible way..... i was just reading the HL2 Vs Doom3 topic...and to be honest...Doom3 has more of a feel to the originals than half life 2 has to the original therefore doom3 comes out ontop...hl2 might aswell just be called "The Wonderful Arcade Adventures of Gorden Freeman and Co." The action just reminded me of Painkiller too much!

That Ravenshorn or whatever level really made me disappointed...that especially reminded me of painkiller...the lever design was so poor i was begging to finish it...and what the preist...now that is just rediculous...

And did no one notice the Chapter themes changed like an arcade game aswell...No i dont think anyone toook that into account bloody hell!

Paul just leave we know that YOU think the game isnt great. You obviesly are not a hl2 fan if you are 100% dissapointed

doom 3 is a frag fest so boring, dark and predictable but i didnt redgester on a doom 3 fan site fourm to express what i think of the game I have better things to do.
 
well im only on ravenholm but ...well...im hoping its going to get better.

I'm confused. Have I missed something? The pre-release material looked exactly as the final product does, but everyone keeps saying how the graphics suck.

ha ha!!!!...i didnt say you had to read my posts did i so stop whining at me....i am a HL fan...and HL2 has really let down HL altogether...

YEs doom3 is a frag fest...dark and predictable...but thats exactly what the originals were..

Half Life 2 is also a frag fest, there is none of this cloak and dagger shit, the chapters differ so much from each other you might aswell be playing 15 different games...to be honest...this is a 1st class 1st person shooter game...if it was for a console and thats why i hate it! its a console style shooter!
 
Some of the "fans" here should be dragged behind a building and shot in the head. I'm talking about the drooling fanatics, obviously. The ones who send Valve e-mails titled "i want 2 suck ur cox i luv u" while masturbating to HL2's soundtrack.
 
i am going to leave it now because so many of you people seem to be drugged by valve...perhaps you are working for them!
 
But before i go....Let me just say...the best modern released shooter around today is FarCry...it also came out before half life 2 and Doom3 ...and is still 300X more fun than both of them...it also is a very un-linear game...which both doom3 and half life 2 are...thank you a goodnight....Prepare yourselves for S.T.A.L.K.E.R
 
funny how every single thread about hl2 sucking comes from people who just joined and have 1-10 posts.

edit - and if u really...truely believe that far cry is the best out there now...you lost all hope of anyone ever believing, or caring, about a word that comes out of ur mouth. noob.
 
Oh i just read johnnyapps reply.....NAME one thing..that is inventive or good about the game...besides being able to pick up pointless objects?

the world is completely physical, the characters facial expressions and animations are so smooth and realistic that if u deny it u shouldnt play video games, the engine itself is dynamically upgradeable, there will be a bunch of great mods sometime down the road, and noone has to explain anything to you. keep your own opinion, the rest of the 99.4% of the world will continue to love hl2.

well you already named one thing which contradicts your statement! Also, you are saying that it is good to pick up pointless objects which is strange.

i was going to give some kind of sarcastic reply about the pointlessness of picking up chairs to barricade doors or grenades to fire back at your enemy but i won't bother.

I will just say that one other inventive thing is the way you can smash through wooden supports on the hoverboat levels and bring any enemies on the above platform crashing down to their death.

Oh and the level of realism brought about by the painstaking craft of facial muscles for each character.

Oh and the antlion pheremones.

Oh and the way you have to weave your missiles around the enemy ship fire to get a hit on them.

Oh and stfu
 
LOLyes i agree...the graphics are good...the facial expressions are good...but it wasnt Oh wow look at that it was more like...uh...wow...that was interesting for about 67ms.....the facial expressions never really came into the game...as all it was is action action action action action action action...cutscene, action action action action...cut scene *yawn*

The story needed to be made deeper to even consider this game as brilliant....it needs alot of improvements...and i agree future mods will be great...but the point is...the game isnt! and thats what i wanted. I respect that you like it though i think most of you just like it because its labelled "Half life"......but it seems all fps's that are coming to be are lacking story...and thats what needs to be changed....and i think conceptual artists and 3d artists and level designers also need to be more creative because the levels of all shooters since early 2003 remind me of another games levels!
 
oh well. at least you thought your arguments through logically and presented it in an easy to read/flame manner.

i liked it, and i'm sure others did, so while we enjoy HL2 you can go and enjoy Far Cry. make sure you wear some sunscreen/flamescreen :)

to be honest your being pretty violent just because i dislike this game.
 
First, stop double posting, use the Edit button, it's in the bottom right corner of your post.

Second, i think valve intended you to get whatever you could in terms of story from all the conversations/exposition provided. heard the phrase 'less is more'? well, instead of valve clumsily having you sit there through hours of boring exposition on the story (ie. Far Cry), they give it to you 'on-the-fly', and hope that you're imaginitive enough to fill in the gaps and make the connections.

if you haven't managed this, then you've got no-one to blame except yourself.
 
It's not ambrosia, but it's certainly better than Doom.

I think you actualy like HL2 but your needs for posting crap is to high probaly.

Edit: When FarCry was released you probaly went: OMFG! How could i ever wait for sutcha sucky game. this is all crap.
When another fantastic shooter comes your doing: IMO Half-life 2 is the best game ever made. It beats "Whatevergame" ass.
 
this is ridiculous. I haven't played the game that much, i'm still in the very first level and i've noticed that it has pretty graphics. As a matter of fact, they looked the same as the leaked version, only with a few fps more but that's it. The game got delayed for a year, because it wasn't finished yet and it promised to have AMAZING graphics. This ain't amazing. This is good, excellent, pretty but not amazing. I also complain about that steam crap alot. Neways, so far, i expected that this game was gonna be better or just like Half Life 1. Intelligent, fun. Well so far, this game is fun, but i spent an hour around just to get a weapon. The game has no MP as known. I remember when the Half Life fans, well most of them were bitching and shit like that at ID Software for charging Doom 3 for 55 dollars. Gosh, doesn't this game cost the same?? As far as i know, Doom 3 has multiplayer and people knew what it was gonna be about. This thing was supposed to be Revolutionary in the storylines, graphics, etc. meh, it's so different from half life that you don't even know what happened to g. freeman after HL1.

This game is cool, i like it, but it sure doesn't live up to its hype. Specially after getting delayed for a year and a couple of months. Only the Valve trolls or whatever u call them would shoot anybody who criticizes this game. They would try to find whatever reason to call you noob. Because you got less than 10 posts or so. Just by looking at their post quotes you can see that they're the regular hardcore Valve n counter strike nerd stereotype. By the way, people shouldn't bitch at other's comment, this is what this part of the forum is about. "Comments". Like it or don't :LOL:
