What kind of bullshit is this?

yes I'd like to hear your explanation as well
as would I.

How does saying that make him naive?

If less than 7% of rape is reported...doesn't that bring up a rather obvious question?

Am I the only one seeing this?

Enlighten me

Lack of confidence in the judicial process, police, society
I am asssuming (fairly i think) that most are real cases and rape is a problem in western societies

I was thinking more along the lines of...
If less than 7% of rape is reported, how do they know its 7% ?
Its like asking how many undiscovered caves there are.

How did they come up with this 7% figure? If it wasn't reported how do they know it happened in order to count it as an unreported statistic? Sounds like a guesstimate.

edit: Thanks Farrow. I see I'm not the only one confused by that statistic.

oh right - based on independent statistics carried out by the government, police and independent rape crisis agencies
Their findings are broadly similiar and reflect trends found in the past

Please note that the title does not represent my opinion on this matter.

In fact, I made up the title before I found the story.

Couldn't tell if you were being sarcastic or not. It's a slow day, my brain's still going at a snails pace. :x

For over a century women have been fighting for equal rights. But consider the following:

A wife hits her husband, once, in the face. The husband decides to be public about it. Police? Take details, unlikley to get a conviction. Papers? Not interested.

A man hits his wife, once, in the face. The wife decides to be public about it. Police? Take details, high probability of conviction. Papers? Page 5 half sheet story about an evil wife beater.

See the difference? Whilst, in giving women equality we have dropped perceptions and barriers regarding how we treat them, in terms of equal employment etc, there are plenty of barriers about how they treat us in place still. This rape conviction is a sign of people slowly realising it.

do you mean that men are treated worse then women?

Remember folks, dont let your partner fell asleep while having sex, you might be sued.

15357 - Yes, thats exactly what I mean. There were equality differences for both sexs making things unfair. The unfair things have been fixed for the women, but not the men.
For example, women would traditionally care for the kids whilst men work. It is now the case that women can work, get equal pay etc, some men even stay home while the women work, so why do men not automatically get equal access to the children in the event of a divorce?

CREMATOR666 - Don't know how you do it mate, but this has never happened to me ;)

lol, I know mate, I was only joking with you :)

This happened to someone i know as well, he got drunk at a party..passed out. He didn't complain about it...in fact he wouldn't shut up about it for a long time.

"dudes i woke up and you wouldn't believe what was happening...."

Just to play devil's advocate here, what this woman did is generally acceptable and often encouraged by the overall majority of men. There are many more men that would have accepted what she did as opposed to not. Not at all saying what she did was right, but while there's definitely a difference in how men and women are treated when something like this happens, there's also a huge difference in whether or not these actions are considered acceptable based on gender in the first place.
